Deal Discussed Then Declined

Level 32 : 100,000/200,000, 25,000 ante

Players had been discussing a deal with just four players left in the 2016 PokerStars.es EPT Barcelona Main Event. Uri Reichenstein, Adam Owen, Sebastian Malec and Thomas De Rooij went through everything and all the other players had a serious look at the numbers under the guidance of Tournament Director Toby Stone.

The rough 'chip-chop' pay-outs would have payed out thus:

1st - €820,000
2nd - €788,000
3rd - €708,000
4th - €695,000

The players asked for ICM numbers instead, so Toby and his team fetched them.

In the end, EPTLive commentator Joe 'Stapes' Stapleton's gut instinct at the start of discussions was correct, as the American called the situation right off the bat. The players discussed a deal but could not come to an arrangement to suit all parties, so will play on.

Zorlu Er Eliminated In 5th Place (€431,550)

Level 32 : 100,000/200,000, 25,000 ante
Zorlu Er
Zorlu Er

Hand #19: Uri Reichenstein raised to 400,000 on the button with {10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and Zorlu Er defended his big blind with {A-Spades}{J-Clubs}. The flop was gin for Reichenstein: {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}. With his flopped flush, Reichenstein bet 200,000 and Er check-called with lightning speed.

On the {10-Clubs} turn, Er checked and Reichenstein now bet 900,000. Once again, Er snap-called the bet. The river was the {6-Hearts} and Er checked a third time. Reichenstein quickly moved all in, overbetting 4,700,000 in a pot of 3,200,000. Even with the gigantic bet for his tournament life, Er called it off in three seconds!

Reichenstein quickly tabled his flush and Er was suddenly eliminated, taking home an incredible €431,550 for his accomplishment. The remaining players took a quick break to discuss a potential deal.

Hand #16 - 18: Zorlu Er Shoves

Level 32 : 100,000/200,000, 25,000 ante

Hand #16: Thomas de Rooij opened to 450,000 from the cutoff with {A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}, taking down the blinds and antes.

Hand #17: Zorlu Er raised to 475,000 from the cutoff with {K-Hearts}{J-Hearts} and Adam Owen called on the button with {A-Hearts}{8-Hearts}. Uri Reichenstein defended his big blind with {A-Spades}{2-Hearts}.

The flop was {K-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} and Reichenstein checked. Er, with top pair, suddenly open-shoved for 4,600,000, and both players quickly folded.

Hand #18: Adam Owen raised to 450,000 from the cutoff with {K-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}, taking down the blinds and antes.

Andreas Chalkiadakis Eliminated in 6th Place (€330,290)

Level 32 : 100,000/200,000, 25,000 ante
Andreas Chalkiadakis

Hand #15: Thomas De Rooij made it 450,000 to go from the cut off with {K-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and Chalkiadakis shoved all-in for 4,075,000 (20BB) with {K-Hearts}{Q-Spades} .

Adam Owen woke up with {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} in the big blind and re-shoved all in for 6,160,000 total. De Rooij moved out of the way.

The flop of {J-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} kept Owen in the lead, but gave Chalkiadakis outs with one of the four tens needed to make a Broadway straight. The turn of {A-Hearts} locked up the hand for Owen, however, and after the {8-Hearts} completed the board, Greek player Chalkiadakis was out of the tournament.

Hands #9 - #14: Malec Makes More

Level 32 : 100,000/200,000, 25,000 ante
Sebastian Malec
Sebastian Malec

Hand #9: Adam Owen got a walk in the big blind with {A-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} . It was the first hand he had won. He turns to his rail to inform them of this....they may be on a beer run.

Hand #10: Reichenstein made it 450,000 to go from under the gun and everyone folded.

Hand #11: Thomas De Rooij raised to 450,000 under the gun with {7-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and no-one fancied taking him on. To celebrate, De Rooij bought a round of beers, offering them to the final table players. No-one fancied one of those either. Nice try, De Rooij.

Hand #12: Reichenstein limps in the small blind with {10-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and De Rooij checks with {9-Spades}{3-Diamonds}. The flop of {4-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{5-Clubs} saw Reichenstein make it 225,000. De Rooij raised to 700,000 and Reichenstein called. The turn of {A-Hearts} saw De Rooij make it 1.2 million chips. Both players also check the {6-Clubs} river and Reichenstein took a massive one from the Dutchman.

Hand #13: Adam Owen made it 450,000 from early position with {5-Spades}{5-Diamonds} but Malec had {10-Spades}{10-Clubs} and called from the cut off. The two men saw a flop of {K-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{3-Spades} and Owen checked, quickly followed by Malec. The turn of {4-Spades} saw both check again, and on the river {J-Clubs} the same action followed. Another for Malec, and he increases his chip lead at the table.

Hand #14: Malec raised to 525,000 in early position with {K-Spades}{K-Clubs} and Er called with {J-Clubs}{3-Clubs} . The flop of {8-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} saw both players check. Er led the turn of {7-Hearts} for 450,000 and Malec made the call. The river of {K-Diamonds} was the worst card for Er to see, but he was 'undeterred' and bet 775,000. Malec raised to 2 million chips exactly. Zorlu Er thought about what to do for some time....but eventually folded. For some time there, that was one of the most amazing hands of the final table.

Harcharan Dogra Dogra Eliminated In 7th Place (€230,950)

Harcharan Dogra Dogra
Harcharan Dogra Dogra

Hand #8: Thomas de Rooij raised to 450,000 from the cutoff. Action folded around to Harcharan Dogra Dogra in the big blind, who held just a six big blind stack. The Spaniard couldn't figure out what to do, and De Rooij called the clock on him.

Dogra Dogra didn't need time, as he quickly settled on a call. The dealer dealt the {9-Clubs}{5-Spades}{2-Hearts} flop and Dogra Dogra immediately went all in for 750,000. De Rooij snap-called it off.

Thomas de Rooij: {A-Hearts}{4-Spades}
Harcharan Dogra Dogra: {3-Hearts}{2-Clubs}

Dogra Dogra's peel with the optional trey-deuce offsuit made him a 2:1 favorite to double up. The {K-Diamonds} on the turn was safe, but the {4-Diamonds} on the river gave De Rooij a higher pair. The sympathetic local hero finished in seventh place, taking home a massive €230,950 payday.

Hand #7: Zorlu Er

Hand #7: Adam Owen raised to 475,000 in early position and Zorlu Er defended his big blind. The flop was {J-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{2-Hearts}, and Er check-called a 500,000 bet from Owen. Both players quickly checked the {10-Spades} turn and {K-Spades} river.

Er showed {J-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for two pair, and Owen mucked {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}.

Hand #6: Sebastian Malec Takes The Chiplead

Sebastian Malec
Sebastian Malec

Sebastian Malec opened to 400,000 from the cutoff with {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs} and Uri Reichenstein three-bet to 1,100,000 with {4-Spades}{4-Diamonds} on the button. Malec called and checked the {K-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{6-Spades} flop to Reichenstein. The German continued with a bet of 850,000, and Malec called.

The turn was the {8-Diamonds} and Malec checked again. Reichenstein continued his aggression, this time cutting out a bet of 2,300,000. Malec, deeply hidden in his hoodie, counted out his stack, then check-shoved for 6,900,000, Reichenstein immediately folded his pocket fours, and Malec grabbed the chiplead.
