Noel Shows 'Em
Jean-Noel Thorel opened to 55,000 first to act and got three callers. Everyone checked the flop to bring a board of on the turn. Charlie Carrel bet 155,000 into the field out of the small blind, and only Thorel called. On the river, Carrel fired a further 185,000, and no sooner had the bet escaped his fingertips than Thorel was moving all in for about 800,000 total. Carrel didn't seem too surprised as he smiled at the bet and exchanged banter in French and English with his opponent. Eventually, someone called the clock and Carrel used almost the entirety of the countdown before mucking. Thorel immediately moved to show, and Carrel knew what he was about to see.
"Oh, fuck," he said.
Sure enough, Thorel rolled over for a bluff, much to the enjoyment of the other players and the crowd.
"You're a hero, Jean," Carrel said.
"I think so," Noel responded.
