The EPT Online 17: $2,100 PLO [6-Max] $500,000 Guarantee on PokerStars saw a total of 286 entries and when the last chance saloon had closed for business it was Jens "Jeans89" Kyll?nen sitting atop the field as the last man standing, pocketing $109,181 for his victory.

Kyll?nen is one of the best known Finnish pros to ever hit the felt. He has almost $3 million in live cashes but his bread and butter is most certainly online. Kyll?nen was specifically known for being ahead of everyone in Omaha ability, crushing the golden years of poker for a speculated $10 million in cash games with most of which coming in four-card poker.

The second biggest cash by Kyll?nen came in 2009 during the EPT Copenhagen Main Event when he took down the event for $1,120,814, making his victory today his second EPT title on the resume. The Finland native overcame a tough final table to achieve this feat, besting Miguel "??toneecho??" Seoane, Christopher "lissi stinkt" Frank, and PokerStars Team Online Pro Lex "L. Veldhuis" Veldhuis.

Action of the Day

The final day of this event began just three away from the money as 38 players returned on Day 2 with the top 35 finding a payday. A bubble on the loom and no antes brought some tighter play to start the day, taking five levels before the bubble boy was dubbed. On level 24 it was "Venividi1993" taking an exit when their small stack was automatically all-in before the flop. "fkiw" was the executioner, popping the bubble and all players were then guaranteed at least a min-cash of $4,796.

Destroying the middle stages of the day was Kyll?nen who found a very fortuitous spot earlier in the day to take a chip lead. Kyll?nen saw his chips go into the pot with a set of sailboats versus "Nessilita" who held a top set of bullets. Kyll?nen took a runner-runner flush to best the top set of aces, pulling in the biggest pot at the time to take the lead.

Just two levels after the money was reached only two tables remained, dropping most of the field almost instantly after the bubble was popped. The final two-tables saw Veldhuis rocket to the top of the food chain, taking down almost every pot he entered. He took that momentum into the final table as the chip leader where his run-good started to fade.

Final Table Action

First on the final table payout list was Christopher "lissi stinkt" Frank who took an optimal spot versus Kyll?nen. Frank had a pair of kings against a double-gutter of Kyll?nen and a king landed on the river, giving Frank a set but unfortunately, that was the straight card needed by Kyll?nen, sending Frank out the door in seventh. "GHOSTFACE9.8" saw their chip stack wither down to the red-zone and elected to shove. Kyll?nen was the caller, holding a pair of sevens in his hand that held against the three overcards "GHOSTFACE9.8" had in their hand, sending the German out in sixth.

Veldhuis came into the final table on top but started to see his chips head into the pocket of Kyll?nen, moving Veldhuis down a few pegs on the totem pole. Veldhuis still had a more than a healthy stack, but a cooler of a hand sent the entire thing to eventual winner Kyll?nen. An all diamond flop saw Veldhuis holding a king-high flush and Kyll?nen fired every street. Veldhuis called all the way down to the river where Kyll?nen shoved and Veldhuis put his chips into the middle with his second-nut flush only to see the ace-high flush that Kyll?nen had, sending Veldhuis to the rail.

Miguel "??toneecho??" Seoane started four-handed play with a decent stack but quickly lost most of it to "doulas12", leaving Seoane short. They elected to put the rest of their chips into the middle on a six-high board, holding just a pair of fours and "bourni21" called with a pair of fives. A seven on the turn gave "bourni21" a straight and Seoane was then drawing dead, taking an exit in fourth place.

Just two hands after it was "doulas12" trying their luck against Kyll?nen. "doulas12" fired in most of their stack before the flop and Kyll?nen stuck around. A jack-nine-eight flop saw "doulas12" shove their remaining stack and Kyll?nen snap-called with his flopped straight. "doulas12" was drawing dead on the turn and Kyll?nen scooped in another large pot, sending out yet another player.

Kyll?nen started heads-up play with a massive lead but "bourni21" was no easy competition, fighting all the way until the end. "bourni21" quickly evened out the playing field but soon after was taking a walk to the payout desk after a couple of ill-timed bluffed. The last hand of the tournament had Kyll?nen bet the river and "bourni21" shove over the top. Kyll?nen snap-called with a rivered straight and it was more than enough when "bourni21" tabled just a pair of queens. "bourni21" was eliminated in second for a respectable $80,929.

That wraps it up for the PokerNews live updates on this event, but tune in tomorrow to check out the EPT Main Event as the action unfolds.
