Astedt and Bogdanov Put on Their Capes
Niklas Astedt limped in from the small blind and Pablo Brito Silva checked his option from the big blind.
On the 7?6?4? flop, Astedt check-called for 4,000 and did the same for 17,000 on the Q? turn. Astedt, with around 37,000 behind, checked for a third time after the 9? river completed the board. Silva put out 125,000, leaving Astedt to make a decision for his tournament life. After some time in the tank, Astedt slid his stack into the middle.
Silva tabled his 8?5? for a nine-high straight while Astedt put on his cape and revealed A?8?.
As Astedt left the table, Teun Mulder collected a double-up from Yulian Bogdanov.
With around 44,000 in the pot on the 8?8?2?4?4? board, Bogdanov checked from the cutoff before Mulder jammed for 42,500 from the button. Bogdanov thought it over for several moments. If he called and were incorrect, he would only have around 12,000 left in his stack. In the end, he put in the chips, and the cards went on their backs.
Teun Mulder: 2?2?
Yulian Bogdanov: AxKx
Bogdanov, like Astedt, had called with ace-high. And like his Swedish counterpart, he ran into a big hand as Mulder had a full house, with his deuces full of eights.
