Life Outside Poker is a new podcast for PokerNews hosted by Connor Richards that seeks to pull back the curtain on poker players and allow viewers and listeners to get to know them on a personal level.
In the 13th episode, Connor speaks with 888poker ambassador and Twitch streamer Ian Simpson, who talked about first learning poker as a kid, getting a degree in biotechnology and becoming a biology teacher, poker streaming and his breakout year of live poker in 2013 that saw him winning the Irish Poker Open for $339,604.
Simpson also discussed the importance of being a responsible poker ambassador and how science can change the world for the better.
With roughly 40,000 on the A?9?5?8? turn, Jeremie Zouari fired 13,000 and Scott Margereson made the call.
The K? fell on the river, and Margereson announced all in. Zouari went into the tank, asking for a count. After hearing it was 42,500, he eventually folded and flashed the A?.
Margereson showed a card of his own, tabling the 10?. Ren lin said, "Wow, that's a professional bluff." Margereson then tabled the 7?.
A pot of over 30,000 had been built by the river with a completed board of Q?6?4?7?Q? as Ren Lin bet 30,000 from the hijack into Jeremie Zouari in the cutoff.
Zouari thought briefly and then called to see Lin show 6?6? for a full house and the winner to rocket into six figures.
Sam Greenwood was all in on the button for 28,500 against Kiwamu Watabe in the hijack.
Sam Greenwood: A?K?
Kiwamu Watabe: K?K?
The A?J?6? flop paired Greenwood's ace to take the lead and left Watabe drawing thin. The 10? turn gave some chop possibilities but the J? river improved Greenwood to a full house.
Thomas Eychenne opened 4,000 in the hijack and Vladimir Korzinin came along in the big blind.
When the K?9?6? flop hit the felt, both players checked to the 6? turn. Korzinin fired 3,500 across the line and Eychenne called.
The 10? completed the board on the river and Korzinin continued for 4,500 which was instantly called by Eychenne. Korzinin rolled Q?10? before Eychenne showed K?5? to drag the pot.
After Jules Dickerson moved his last 36,000 in from the button, Scott Margereson moved in from the small blind, covering Dickerson by just 1,000 chips.
Jules Dickerson: A?J?
Scott Margereson: A?Q?
The board came 10?9?7?3?3? as Margereson's better ace-high held up to eliminate Dickerson for a final time today.
