The PokerStars European Poker Tour Barcelona kicked off yesterday at Casino Barcelona for the 20th Anniversary edition of the series. On the schedule this afternoon is the first-ever €12,300 PokerStars Cuatro Knockout event, which is set to commence at 2 p.m. local time.
Of the €12,300 buy-in, €3,000 goes towards the bounty prize pool. An individual €12,000 bounty comes into play once 25% of the field remains. The rest of the prize pool is reserved for regular payouts.
This bounty structure creates an interesting situation in which there are two separate bubbles during the tournament--one before the bounties come into play, and before the payouts begin.
This is the first EPT which includes this event, featuring 30-minute levels and a winner is expected to be crowned before night's end.
Players will begin the event with 100,000 chips and the blinds will start at 500/1,000 with a 1,000 big blind ante. However, there are several double-levels while the late registration period remains open until around 8:55 p.m. local time prior to the start of Level 11.
PokerNews will be bringing live updates straight from the tournament floor as reporters follow the event from start to finish.
