Philip Joyce had just switched tables and taken the seat of the departed Roeland Peeks as Arian Kashani opened to 60,000 in the cutoff. Yisha Chen then three-bet to 180,000 on the button and Joyce, still unracking his chips, called in the small blind. Kashani got out of the way.
The flop came 5?5?4? and Joyce led out for 65,000. Chen raised to 200,000 and Joyce called.
Both players checked the Q? turn and the 6? fell on the river. Joyce checked again, Chen bet 800,000, and Joyce snap-called.
Chen showed K?K?, but Joyce turned over A?A? to win the massive pot.
"Welcome to the table," Kashani told him.
"Aces versus kings in back-to-back hands. The odds of that have to be astronimcal, almost zero," Bobby James added.
