Bernat Capdevila Montes opened the action from the hijack with a raise to 60,000, which Virgile Turchi called from the small blind.

The 4?K?K? flop saw Montes continue for 40,000, only for Turchi to raise to 110,000. After a brief moment of consideration, Montes made the call.

On the 5? turn, Turchi seized the initiative, leading out for 130,000. Montes, undeterred, quickly called again.

When the 10? completed the board on the river, Turchi took his time before opting to check. Montes, checked back quickly.

At the showdown, Turchi revealed 4?4? for a full house, leaving Montes visibly surprised as he was about to show his cards. With a flick of his hand, Montes tossed them into the muck, unable to claim the pot. Turchi’s unexpected strength caught Montes off guard.

Malcolm Franchi
Malcolm Franchi

Malcolm Franchi raised to 250,000 from middle position, leaving 140,000 behind, and was called by Mariusz Golinski on his direct left. Everyone else folded.

The flop fell Q?7?8?, and Franchi made the move to push all in and Golinski made the move to call.

"Why snap call?" Franchi asked. "Either I’m ahead or I need two outs," he continued. He then moved all in for his last 140,000 chips.

"You’re ahead," Golinski replied as he made the call.

Malcolm Franchi: 4?4?All in
Mariusz Golinski: A?J?

The 4? on the turn improved Franchi to a set, but it gave Golinski additional outs with a backdoor flush draw. However, the 5? on the river was no help to Golinski, and Franchi doubled up to stay alive in the tournament.

Action folded around to Omar Del Pino who called in the small blind. Ryan Mandara checked his option in the big blind.

The 2?J?K? flop saw a bet of 125,000 from Del Pino and a call from Mandara. The 10? completed potential flush draws. Both players checked.

Antal Hamza moved all in from the hijack for 725,000. Jason Wheeler rejammed all in from the small blind. He had Hamza covered.

Antal Hamza: 4?4?All in
Jason Wheeler: A?K?

Hamza flopped a full house on J?J?J?. Wheeler couldn't catch an ace or a king across the Q? turn and the 2? river.

Hamza got out of his seat and seemingly did a lap of honour in celebration of his double up. The table then wondered whether they thought Hamza had won the hand.

Wheeler quipped "he's gone home to tell his mum about this."

A few hands later he fell to Claudio Di Giacomo when he made two pair with A?7?. He bested Wheeler's K?10? across the A?Q?2?7x10x runout.
