Davidi Kitai is known for making exceptional calls in tough spots, but just now he did not pull the trigger when Charles Carrel put him all in for his tournament life.
The action started on Sylvain Loosli who raised under the gun to 45,000 and Carrel called from the button after which Kitai and Ivan Luca called from the blinds.
The flop came down and all four players checked. On the turn the hit and the action was checked to Carrel who bet 115,000, Kitai was his only caller.
On the river the completed the board and Kitai checked to Carrel again. Carrel put forward a big tower of red 25,000 chips and Kitai tanked for about 10 minutes before calling the clock on himself.
As time was running out he asked if Carrel would show if he folded, and the young Brit said he would.
In the end Kitai folded face up, and Carrel showed for a complete bluff.
"I knew it!" Ludovic Geilich yelled, "I knew he had some sort of blocker spades hand with an eight."
"How can I ever have a bluff there?" Carrel asked Geilich, who went on to explain to say how tough the spot for Kitai was with his hand.
Carrel raked in this huge pot and Kitai dropped down to being one of the shortest stacks.
