Selbst and Cheong Battle On Flop

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Team PokerStars Pro and start-of-the-day chip leader Vanessa Selbst opened with a raise to 40,000 from under the gun, and Kyle Cheong called from the big blind to take a {J-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{3-Clubs} flop. Cheong checked, Selbst fired a continuation bet of 48,000, and Cheong check-raised to 128,000. Selbst took some time, then reraised to 264,000. Cheong had approximately 590,000 behind, but eventually folded his hand, and Selbst won the pot.

Chop Between Cheong and Selbst

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Vanessa Selbst fired a bet of 66,000 on the {10-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} flop. Her opponent, Kyle Cheong, made the call, and the two witnessed the dealer add the {8-Diamonds} to the board on the turn.

With the board now paired with eights, both players checked, and the {10-Spades} put another pair on the board on the river. Selbst checked, and Cheong checked behind.

Selbst showed the {A-Spades}{9-Clubs}. Cheong showed the {A-Clubs}{6-Spades}. Both players held tens and eights with an ace kicker and chopped up the pot.

Davidi Kitai Eliminated in 12th Place (€77,400)

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Davidi Kitai -- 12th Place
Davidi Kitai -- 12th Place

Davidi Kitai was praying that Fady Kamar has ace-king when he moved all in behind but he was soon to be disappointed, and then very disappointed.

Kitai moved all in for exactly 320,000 and Kamar did the same for 480,000 from the small blind.

Kitai: {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}
Kamar: {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}

The board ran {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}{7-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{9-Hearts} to see Kamer flop his opponent dead with quads!

As Kitai was getting up to leave a cheeky Igor Kurganov said to the Belgian, "Look, look: you made a flush!"

Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Selbst Eyes Another High Roller Title

Vanessa Selbst
Vanessa Selbst

Welcome back for the third and final day of the €25,000 High Roller at the 2013 PokerStars and Monte-Carlo? Casino European Poker Tour Grand Final. This stop in Monaco marks the culmination of Season 9 of the EPT, and it's been an exciting festival thus far. Continuing with the excitement, Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Selbst leads into Day 3 of this event with a stout group of competitors behind her.

In all, 12 players remain, including the defending champion Igor Kurganov. Last year, Kurganov defeated a field of 133 entries to win €1.08 million. With 678,000 in chips coming back for play today, Kurganov sits just above average and in seventh place on the leader board.

Also remaining are Toby Lewis, Alex Bilokur, Toby Lewis, Davidi Kitai and Sorel Mizzi, to name a few. Mizzi will be the short stack returning to play, but one double up will put him right back into the middle of the pack.

Earlier this year, Selbst became the winningest female poker player of all time by taking the title in the $25,000 High Roller at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure for over $1.4 million. She's already set to increase her live tournament earnings with the field being in the money, but she could jump as high as 26th on the All-Time Money List if she were to win this event. Right now, Selbst sits in 42nd place on that list, but she's just about assured herself that she'll be moving up the ladder.

Day 3 will begin with two tables of six players jousting on the felt. The field will combine to one table when nine remain and play down to a winner from there. The final day's festivities are set to begin at 12 p.m. CET, so stay right here to PokerNews for all the action.
