Daniel Karacic Leads After Day 1a of the Eureka 6 Rozvadov Main Event

Season 6 of the PokerStars.net Eureka Poker Tour officially kicked off this week at King's Casino in Rozvadov and the €1,100 Main Event got underway earlier today. One year ago, the first starting day attracted a field of 98 entrants but this number was crushed as 219 players took part this time around. With that, the highlight event of the festival looks well on track to meet its guarantee of €500,000.

After 10 levels of 45 minutes each, only 90 players remained. Daniel Karacic from Croatia bagged up the lead with 194,400 in chips. He is followed by Harald "Harry" Casagrande (155,000) and Lazer Gjergji (151,800). Gjergji skyrocketed into third place overall by winning a big flip with ace-queen suited against the pocket eights of Jesper Hansen in one of the last hands of the day.

Among the main attractions in today's field were Ivan "Negriin" Luca, EPT Vienna champion Michael Eiler, and Alex Kravchenko. While Luca, the Argentinian, claimed 124,800 in chips and Eiler followed straight after with 117,600, Kravchenko busted in the last level of the night. Nandor Solyom was the first player out and Eureka 5 Hamburg champion Tom Holke departed early on from the very same table.

Defending Eureka Rozvadov champion Raphael Wimmer as well as 2015 World Series of Poker Europe bracelet winner Makarios Avramidis didn't advance to Day 2 either, and the set of deuces from Tobias Peters was cracked by a nut flush draw. Friedrich Raz made said flush to become a big stack in Level 6, but the Swiss bluffed off his stack to Karacic when firing three barrels with a turned flush draw.

Other big stacks and notables include 2015 World Series of Poker Circuit Rozvadov Main Event finalist Tonino Schmitz (113,800), Frantisek Bures (95,900), EPT regular Robert Zipf (82,400), who registered just before the start of Level 7, Eureka 5 Prague fourth-place finisher Vladas Burneikis (80,300), Stefan Rapp (79,200), Marek Blasko (70,000), and Sebastian Langrock (63,300).

They will all be back on Sunday for Day 2 while tomorrow offers the second starting day as of 1 p.m. and the turbo Day 1c heat as of 22:00 local time. Only players that busted in either of the first two flights are allowed to participate in Day 1c, and you can be sure to find coverage right here on PokerNews, so stay tuned.
