Moneymaker Makes an Appearance
It's not everyday that you get to play poker with someone so directly responsible for the genesis of the poker boom.
Chris Moneymaker just strolled into the poker room here at Hollywood Casino Tunica for the HPO Tunica Regional Championship. The 2003 World Series of Poker Main Event winner is seated at Jonathan Taylor's table, and will be looking to record his second cash of 2014.
Back in November, Moneymaker cashed in two events at the HPO Regional stop in Lawrenceburg, including the Main Event. Moneymaker finished 10th in the Main Event for $1,742.
Since winning the 2003 Main Event and pocketing $2.5 million, Moneymaker has recorded several big scores. He finished runner-up in WPT Bay 101 in 2004 for $200,000, 11th in the 2011 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Main Event for $130,000, and runner-up in the 2011 NBC National Heads-Up Championship.
We'll keep our eyes on the poker icon throughout the day to see if he can make a run at another poker title.
