Tan Hoang raised to 210,000 from the cutoff and Jay McVeigh called from the button. The two went heads up to a flop of and Hoang checked. McVeigh bet 350,000 and Hoang check-raised to 750,000.
Despite the small sizing, it was more than McVeigh wished to commit and he sent his cards to the muck as a result.
John Small limped in from the cutoff and Tan Hoang raised to 275,000 from the button behind him. Jay McVeigh then three-bet to 1 million from the small blind and everybody folded, earning him the pot without seeing a flop.

Hoang was way out in front and in great shape to earn the double. The flop fell , tremendously changing Hoang's fortune as his flopped top pair, top kicker was now way behind Small's flopped two pair. He was in need of hitting an ace or a nine in order to stay alive in the tournament and did just that as the turn fell , planting him back out in front. The river fell , a safe card for Hoang to secure the double and find new life as a result.
John Small opened to 230,000 from the button and was called by Jay McVeigh, who defended his big blind. The flop came and McVeigh checked. Small made a continuation-bet of 210,000 to put action back on McVeigh, who called.
The turn was . McVeigh checked again and Small checked behind. The river fell and McVeigh bet 300,000. Small went into the tank for close to a minute before throwing in chips to call.
McVeigh tabled and Small showed , with the two chopping up the pot due to the king kicker that came on the river to make both players' two pairs of even strength.
Glenda McCall limped in from the cutoff and saw Jay McVeigh complete his small blind. Robert Meglich checked his option, bringing a flop of .
Action checked to McCall, who bet 200,000. McVeigh called, putting action onto Meglich. Meglich put in a check-raise to 700,000. McCall called and McVeigh folded.
The turn came and Meglich put out a stack of white T100,000 chips big enough to put McCall all in. She called off her last 430,000 and the two tabled their hands.

McCall's top pair was up against Meglich's two pair. She would need to hit an eight or a king on the river in order to improve to the best hand. Unfortunately for her, the river fell to end her run as the fifth-place finisher, taking home a payday of $29,673 for her efforts.
