Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT)

The Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT) is a poker tournament circuit that was established in 2008 by PokerStars. It caters to both amateur and professional poker players, with tournaments held at various locations across Latin America, such as Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina.

These tournaments featured a range of buy-ins to accommodate players with different skill levels and bankrolls.

LAPT Season 2 (2008-09)

The second season of the LAPT saw the tour expand to five stops across five different countries. The second season is perhaps most well-known for the cancellation of LAPT Nuevo Vallarta in Mexico. The tournament was brought to a halt with 89 players remaining after being broken up by local authorities due to unknown reasons.

LAPT Season 3 (2009-10)

The third season of the LAPT was notable not only for another cancellation - this time Vi?a del Mar, Chile due to an earthquake - but the two wins of Nacho Barbero, who became the first player to win two titles on the LAPT. What's more exciting, is that his wins came back-to-back, just four months apart.

LAPT Season 7 (2014)

In July 2014, Fabian Ortiz became the second two-time LAPT champion alongside fellow Argentinian Nacho Barbero. He won LAPT Panama for $143,930.

This season also marked the departure of Humberto Brenes from Team PokerStars Pro Latin America.

LAPT Season 8 (2015)

In 2014, it was announced that the LAPT Grand Final originally scheduled to be held in Punta del Este, Uruguay would be moved and form part of the 2015 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA).

Also, just one year after winning LAPT Chile for his first LAPT title, Mario Javier L��pez won his second title at LAPT Chile, becoming only the third player to win multiple LAPT titles.
