Oziel Zuniga Wins Lone Star Poker Series Main Event ($45,960)

Level 28 : 75,000/125,000, 125,000 ante

Oziel Zuniga is the inaugural Lone Star Poker Series Main Event Champion and $45,960 richer after two long days of play.

Understandably, Zuniga was grinning ear to ear after the win: "I was exhausted when I walked in tonight. I was out too late partying last night. I have done nothing but drink coffee all day long."

Coffee was the key to keeping Zuniga tuned in and ready to play. He was caught bluffing when he jammed with {2-Clubs}{3-Clubs} while four-handed but he made a pair and held. Throughout the final hour or so of play, Zuniga would loudly say "deuce-trey" as his rallying cry.

Zuniga took home the $45,960 top prize, an engraved money clip, and the specially-designed sterling silver trophy belt buckle from Max Lang Belts and Buckles.

Others to cash the tournament were Flavio Palalon (12th - $4,800), Ray Henson (15th - $3,190), Lisa Fleishman (17th - $2,650), Josh Burkhalter (26th - $1,910), Blake Barousse (28th - $1,910), Chris Staats (29th - $1,910), Hayden Fortini (31st - $1,910), Paul Strohm (33rd - $1,650), and William Lahti (37th - $1,650).

It was an especially brutal Day 2 for Lahti , who began the day as chip leader. He and Long Nguyen engaged in a preflop raising war that resulted in Lahti getting his stack in with pocket kings only to see Nguyen roll over aces. The board ran out seven-high and Lahti took an unexpected early exit from the tournament.

*Denotes three-handed deal.

Charlie Dawson Eliminated in 4th Place ($21,910)

Charlie Dawson
Charlie Dawson

Charlie Dawson fought hard at this final table, but in what would be his final hand, Oziel Zuniga jammed and Dawson called off for less.

Oziel Zuniga: {2-Clubs}{3-Clubs}
Charlie Dawson: {a-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}

Dawson felt good after calling Zuniga's shove but the poker gods were not smiling on Dawson tonight.

Flop: {2-Spades}{8-Clubs}{4-Clubs}

Zuniga pulled ahead with a pair and a flush draw on the flop. The turn {6-Hearts} and river {q-Hearts} did nothing to help and Dawson was out in fouth place for $21,910.

Andrew Dartez

Andrew Dartez thought he loved the {7-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} flop while he was holding {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}, but unfortunately, Charlie Dawson was in the hand with {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}.

Dartez was all in on the flop and Dawson didn't hesitate to call.

The board ran out the {5-Spades} turn and {q-Spades} river and Dartez was unable to improve.

Dartez was out in sixth place for $12,580.

Raymond Martin Eliminated in 7th Place ($9,710)

Level 24 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Raymond Martin
Raymond Martin

Raymond Martin was all in preflop against Andrew Dartez for his tournament life.

Raymond Martin: {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}
Andrew Dartez: {k-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

Martin was ahead on the flop of {9-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{j-Hearts} but when the {10-Hearts} hit on the turn, that was all she wrote. as Daretz made Broadway

The meaningless {7-Hearts} river card changed nothing and Martin was sent on his way.
