Welcome to the Master Classics of Poker Main Event 2014
The Master Classics of Poker is one of the oldest and most recognized tournament festivals in Europe and the 23rd edition of the Main Event will get underway today as of 15:00 local time in the Holland Casino in Amsterdam. The four-day event features a single starting day with a buy-in of �4,000 + �250 and all players receive 30,000 in chips. At least nine levels of 60 minutes each will be played and as of 14:00, the popular one hand satellites take place. In 2013, Noah Boeken emerged victorious in a 298 entry strong field and defeated Simon Persson from Sweden for a payday of �306,821.
Registration for the Main Event remains open until the first card on Day 2 is dealt and unlimited re-entries are possible until then as well. Yesterday's �250 rebuy satellite had 267 entries, 217 rebuys and 217 add ons to generate 39 tickets for the Main Event and �2,490 for the 40th place finisher. Among those to win their seats were such familiar faces as Hossein Ensan, Chino Rheem, Mark Roovers, Rory Brown and Mateusz Moolhuizen.
Another tournament will play down to a winner today as the �10,000 + �250 High Roller Event recommences at 15:00 with an unscheduled third day. MCOP 2012 Main Event champion Ole Schemion (510,000) leads the final four players with almost half the chips in play followed by Dutch high-stakes specialist Rachid Ben Cherif with 388,500 in chips. Bryn Kenney won the very same event in 2013 and is still in with 170,000 in chips whereas Aviv Meiri is the short stack on 71,500 in chips. The winner of the event receives �139,194, Salman Behbehani (6th, �26,334) and Floris van der Ven (5th, �30,096) cashed last night.
