Controversial Hand Involving Zhugralin
The floor was called to this hand involving Damir Zhugralin after some controversy at showdown. The hand started normally, after an open from the under-the-gun player, the player who was next to act flat-called before Zhugralin made it 4,000 from the hijack. With the action back on the opponents, they both called to set up a flop.
The flop brought a continuation-bet from the Kazakhstani previous Merit event winner, and again, both players called the bet of 4,100.
To a turn of and a similar story occurred, both players calling once again to the 5,000 bet this time, from Zhugralin.
At the river, it checked around. This is where things got a bit heated, as the under-the-gun player turned over for a busted flush draw, the next player mucked but when action was on Zhugralin, he at first slid his cards across the table towards the dealer. He then realized he had the best hand and quickly retrieved his cards he had let go of and turned over his for top pair.
His opponent wasn't best pleased with this as he called multiple floor members over, who ruled in Zhugralin's favour as he didn't announce a fold and his cards were not touching any of the other face down cards. The hand left Zhugralin's opponent on just 1,000 chips and chipped Zhugralin up.
