Kliper Makes Tough Call
A player opened to 5,500 on the button and Arie Kliper, who recently took down Event #2: $2,200 NL Warmup for a career best $206,800, defended out of the big blind.
Kliper checked to his opponent following the flop and then called a continuation of 7,500.
The turn came prompting Kliper to check for a second time. The button was in no mood to slow down, instead firing off 15,000. That second barrel could not force Kliper off of his holding as he made the call to send the action to the river.
The river completed the board and, as on the previous two streets, Kliper checked. His opponent did not pause for long before applying further pressure by sliding 50,000 into the middle, a bet that represented nearly all of Kliper's remaining chips. After some wincing and sighing, Kliper made the call and turned over for top pair with a busted flush draw. The button player could only show for a complete bluff to hand Kliper a near full double and keep the Israeli player's heater going.
