Josephy's Big Blind Special
We got to the table with 68,000 chips already up for grabs and the board showing . Josephy was in the big blind and made a bet of 45,000 into Procopio (UTG) and Woodward (late position). Procopio tanked for a minute, cutting 45,000 off of his stack and counting his remaining chips of approximately 52,000. In the end he folded.
That moved the action to Woodward, who had a total of 77,000 in his stack. He tanked for about as long as Procopio did before calling. Upon that call Josephy craned his neck to see how much more Woodward was playing.
The river paired the board . Josephy banged out a check; Woodward did the same. "Jacks and sixes," Josephy called, turning up . It was good. Procopio looked ill.
"You have aces over there?" a player asked.
"He had 9-10 of diamonds," replied Josephy.
"Better than that," Procopio corrected.
"Better than that?" Josephy seemed skeptical.
Procopio nodded. "If I call, you lose,"
Procopio didn't call and so Josephy didn't lose. His 275,000 chips put him right near the leaders.
