Brown Beneficiary of Bad Bluff

Andrew Brown was just given an extremely generous gift here in Level 5 of NAPT Venetian. He was part of a seven-handed limped flop of {Q-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {3-Clubs}. With 2,300 chips in the middle, Men Nguyen was the first mover, making a weak stab of 600 at the pot. He was called by a middle position player and by Brown before the small blind made a small check-raise to 2,800. Nguyen quickly surrendered.

The second player tanked for a few moments before calling. Brown then asked the small blind, "How much are you playing?" He was told that the small blind had about 18,000 before also calling.

The turn was a total brick, {2-Hearts}. The small blind tanked for a minute and then fired out a third of his remaining stack, 6,000. Again each of the second player and Brown tanked before calling. On this street Brown eyed the middle position player's stack (approximately 17,000 behind after calling the 6,000) before calling.

The river was the {9-Spades}. The small blind tanked one more time and then moved all in for 11,900. It was apparently a very tough decision for the player caught between the small blind and Brown. Ultimately he opted to fold, a decision which brought a snap-call from Brown.

Brown triumphantly turned over the nuts, {A-Clubs} {8-Clubs}. The small blind sheepishly tossed in his complete airball, {K-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds}, and quickly exited the tournament area, having bluffed off more than 70 big blinds.

The player in between the small blind and Brown copped to folding a set of queens after the hand had ended.

Brown is now up to about 90,000 chips.
