Level 14 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
NAPT Main Event Trophy
NAPT Main Event Trophy

Day 1d of the $1,650 Main Event has come to an end at PokerStars North American Poker Tour Las Vegas at Resorts World Las Vegas and Petrica Oana (234,000) is the chip leader after 14 levels of play.

The fourth of six flights in the Main Event may have been on the smaller side, but there was no shortage of action from the 47 entries, from which 12 players have found a bag and will return for Day 2 on Thursday.

Oana was followed close behind by some talented players. Josh Reichard (193,000) finished the flight in second place after registering late in the night and working his way into a commanding presence at the table. Jon Kyte (113,000) shipped a Venetian Deepstack just six days ago and is now moving on to Day 2 with a healthy stack. 2023 U.S. Poker Open Champion Martin Zamani (127,000) opted to max late register the event and was able to use some tricky play and well-timed aggression to get moving in the right direction and put chips in a bag for Day 2.

Unfortunately, not everyone on the late-night/early-morning flight could find a bag. NAPT Super High Roller runner-up, David Stamm started off the day hot as he took down some pots and even eliminated a player when he drilled the nut straight on the turn and held. He would then go on a cold streak and end the night on the rail. Former WSOP Main Event final tablaist Griffin Benger hung tough for a good portion of the day but was not able to make Day 2. Popular YouTuber and high-stakes pro Masato Yokosawa also made an appearance late in the day, but it was short-lived.

Luckily for all these players and many more who have not yet found a bag, there are still two more flights, including the 8 p.m. Turbo flight that will be running to help a few more people get that Day 2 shot at glory.

Zamani Dragging Multiple Pots

Level 12 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Martin Zamani
Martin Zamani

Action was opened in middle position to 3,500 before a late position player called and Martin Zamani called from the big blind.

The Q?8?4? flop landed and action checked through to a 9? turn.

Zamani then took the betting lead and wagered 2,500. Unfortunately, if this was a value bet it would get no action as both of Zamani's opponents folded.

He dragged the pot was back in the mix just a few hands later when he jammed over an open and then showed a five when his opponent folded.

Top Boat Runs Into a Cold Deck

Level 10 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Samuel Laskowitz
Samuel Laskowitz

Action was opened in middle position by Cody Raymond to 2,200 before it folded to Samuel Laskowitz in the small blind who smooth called followed by a fold from the big blind.

The 4?3?7? flop landed and action was checked to Raymond who continued for 2,200. The action was back on Laskowitz who opted to put in a check-raise to 7,000. Raymond called and the 3? rolled off on the turn.

Laskowitz sat in the tank for almost a minute before he bet again for 8,300. Raymond called again and the 2? hit on the river.

Laskowitz pondered his options for a few more moments before announcing he was all in. Raymond snap-called and immediately tabled 7?7? for top boat but the pain was real when Laskowitz tabled 3?3? for turned quads and an absolute cooler.

Laskowitz dragged the pot and got a much-needed influx of chips.

Fun Runout for Wang to Get the Pure Double

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante
Michael Wang
Michael Wang

Michael Wang had lost a few hands and was working off of a short stack when he moved all in from early position for 4,500. It folded all the way to the big blind who called and the cards hit their backs.

Michael Wang: 4?4?
Big Blind: A?K?

The players got an action flop on 4?Q?7? giving Wang a set and the big blind the nuts. The dealer would come through for Wang with the Q? turn helping Wang to fill-up and lock up the win.

The action was opened under the gun to 1,000. A player in middle position called, the cutoff called, and the button called.

The action was then on David Stamm in the small blind who sat in the tank for a moment before gathering some chips and putting in a large three-bet to the tune of 10,000.

One by one the under the gun player, middle positon, cutoff, and button all returned their cards to the dealer.

Stamm scooped a healthy pot with no showdown and kept the heater going.

Kyte Running Hot

Level 3 : Blinds 100/300, 300 ante
Jon Kyte
Jon Kyte

Hand #1:

Jon Kyte opened the cutoff to 800 before only the big blind came along with a call.

The K?J?6? flop landed and action quickly checked through to a 5? turn.

The big blind check-called a 1,000 bet from Kyte on their way to a 4? river. The big blind checked again and Kyte put out one more bet of 2,800. The big blind snap-called and Kyte showed down the K?10? for top pair and the win.

Hand #2:

The very next hand Kyte opened in middle position to 800 and got called on the button and in the big blind.

The J?9?Q? flop landed and action checked to Kyte who continued the story for 1,400.

Unfortunately, he got folds in both spots but scooped his second pot in a row to gain some momentum as the first break of the day approached.

Raymond Shows Up With an Unlikely Hand

Level 2 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante
Cody Raymond
Cody Raymond

Action folded to the button who opened for 500 before Cody Raymond put in a cold three-bet from the small blind to 2,000. The button called and they were off to a flop heads up.

The A?2?5? flop hit the felt and Raymond continued for another bet of 1,700. The button called.

The 4? hit the turn and action slowed down and checked through to a 2? river.

Raymond took a moment and then made one more bet of 5,000. After about a minute in the tank, the button flicked in a call and got the bad news.

Raymond rolled over K?3? for the turned straight and the button's cards hit the muck.
