The FPN King Slayer National Championship Main Event is running at full steam with over 200 players attempting to score the $25,000 top prize. Four of those players have quite the history to share.

Randall Warning of Illinois won the FPN League Champ Championship event during the Summer 2019 Main Event Mania series. Randall is looking to continue his run good in 2020 with a deep run today.

Joel Smith of Perham, Minnesota is a past FPN National Championship Main Event winner. When Smith won his title, he was award a seat in the WSOP $10,000 Main Event. Not only did Smith cash that tournament but he also cashed the 2019 WSOP Big Fifty event. Smith looks to use his impressive history to scare the players today and make a deep run.

Cory Retzlaff tasted victory less than 48 hours ago when he won the 2020 FPN King Slayer League Champ Championship event. Retzlaff is well rested and ready to continue building his chip stack.

Finally, Bob Tweten of Hillsboro, ND is sitting with a starting stack. Tweten is well known in the FPN community for taking home the championship title in January 2019. Tweten qualified at the last second this year and looks to make another deep run.

History of the Free Poker Network (FPN)

Brook Lyter (Image: FPN)
Brook Lyter (Image: FPN)

The Free Poker Network (FPN) league was founded by Brook Lyter, who you might remember finisher runner-up in the 2006 World Poker Tour PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA), and Jason Drake in North Dakota (Dakota Poker League). With grassroots help from players and a commitment to providing the best grand prizes possible, the league spread to Minnesota, Nebraska, and beyond. Today, the Free Poker Network (FPN) has over 265 participating locations nationwide.

Over the years, there have been many wonderful success stories, and many more friendships.

While countless poker leagues have come and gone over the years (many falling woefully short on promises made to players and bars), the Free Poker Network continues to deliver great prizes season after season.

The league has put over 100 players into World Series bracelet events and countless other Heartland Poker Tour, World Poker Tour, and other major tournament events!
