Congratulations to "MortySmith", Winner of Event #2: $15 GTD PKO 8-Max Bounty for $3,686

The partypoker US Network Progressive Knockout (PKO) Bounty Online Series has just crowned another champion in the second event of the series. Event #2: $15 GTD PKO 8-Max Bounty saw a total of 146 entries and when the last chance saloon had closed for business it was "MortySmith sitting on top of the podium, taking home $3,692 for their victory.

"MortySmith" started the final table near the bottom of the totem pole but quickly jumped back into contention. "MortySmith" played patiently and passive until the final four where they really kicked it into overdrive. They went to the entire final table without a knockout and it was not until three-handed where they took their first from "SaltSea", thanks to a fortuitous river card. The very next hand saw "MortySmith" collect the last bounty up for grabs, sending "Neszquik" out in second place, which meant the champion also got to collect their own bounty in the process, bringing their bounty total to $2,131 to end the event.

Action of the Day

The tournament had a relatively slow start compared to the first event of the series and by the time late registration had closed 147 slips were sold. The total prize pool came up just short of the guarantee that was set which means that partypoker US will be putting some cash into the prize pool for the players.

Once the late registration period had ended, only a total of 28 runners were left to fight it out, with the top 24 finding a payday. Just moments later the money bubble popped and fireworks started to fly. Stanton "Stonniepokes" Tentnowski was one of the first to take an exit in the money when he ran into the broadway of Neszquik who then had the tournament chip lead at the time.

"Neszquik" sailed to the final table as the leader but wasn't apart of the first elimination that took place. "MoZZyNJ" check-shoved a flop with top pair, only to be out-kicked by the hand of "MortySmith". The board eventually gave "MortySmith" two pair and the pot, sending "MoZZyNJ" out of the final table first.

The next player to hit the rail was "Wannabepro89" and this time was by the hands "Neszquik". "Wannabepro89" was short and put their chips in from the big blind during a three-way pot with seven-five. "Neszquik" called and then shoved the flop with pocket nines. The other player in the hand folded and a cold runout saw "Wannabepro89" drawing dead on the turn.

"Neszquik" continued their terror, this time against Frederick "Got_Milk" Ferrell when both turned the same full house. An unfortunate river gave "Neszquik" a higher boat and Ferrell was sent packing in sxith place. Next to be voted off the island was "RobertJordan" when they shoved pocket sevens and S_R732" called with two overs. One of those overs came on the flop and "RobertJordan" hit the trail.

A solid hour went by during four-handed play before another knockout. "Neszquik" and "S_R732" fired back during a hand with two kings on the flop. All the chips didn't go into the middle until the eight landed as a river card and "S_R723" then tabled three cowboys, only to take an exit when "Neszquik" showed pocket snowmen, giving them a boat and the pot to eliminate "S_R732".

The last three were playing an aggressive game, constantly shoving, and "MortySmith" did just that when they ripped from the button with queen-jack off. SaltSea called for less, tabling a pair of bullets. All was well until the river card gave "MortySmith" two pair which dropped "SaltSea" out in third. The very next hand had "Neszquik" all in with a pair of nines, only to fall to a turned pair of queens by the champion. "Neszquik" finished runner-up for the same $1,555 but did not get to keep their own bounty.

The series is open to everybody in the state of New Jersey across the three platforms of partypoker US, Borgata Poker and BetMGM Poker.

That wraps it up for the PokerNews live coverage of this event, but tune in tomorrow for coverage of Event #3: $20K GTD PKO 8-Max Bounty at 8 p.m. EST.
