Daniel "centrfieldr23" Lupo Takes Down partypoker US NetworkOnline PKO Series Event #6 for $3,658

partypoker US Network PKO Series Event #6
partypoker US Network PKO Series Event #6

Friday night saw a $109 buy-in version of the partypoker US Network PKO Online Series. The tournament featured a $10,000 guaranteed prize pool, which was exceeded by more than 20% as 121 entries played down to one, where Daniel "centrfieldr23" Lupo found himself as the last man standing.

Lupo won a first-place prize of $1,709 plus another $1,949 in bounties with the Bounty Booster PKO Format in play, bringing his total earnings for the tournament up to $3,658. Shortly after registration closed, Lupo was in the top half of the chip counts with 25 players remaining and 13 set to get paid.

By the time the bubble burst, his stack had largely remained unchanged, dropping him to the bottom half of the counts momentarily. However, the blink of an eye later saw the final table of nine reached, with Lupo second in chips behind eventual runner-up "BelblixteredOG".

Lupo quickly became the chip leader, though "BelblixteredOG" and "Lanfeust" also took their turns atop the counts for a short moment as nine players became six. Then, Lupo pulled away, becoming the first player in the tournament to surpass 1 million, and only further climbing from there as he eliminated "Lanfeust" and Clayton "claytonfletcher" Fletcher to bring the number of players left in the field down to four.

Shortly thereafter, "triplewham42" busted in fourth after their jacks were unable to hold against the ace-four of "BelblixteredOG," and three-handed play only lasted for a couple of minutes before the short-stacked "bertdoggy" lost a coin flip with pocket sevens to Lupo's king-jack in an all-in preflop scenario.

Lupo then took more than 80% of the chips in play into a heads-up match that lasted for less than five combined minutes, though the length of the match was doubled due to a break at the :55 of the hour. Shortly upon play resumed, stacks got in on a paired board as Lupo called an all-in shove with a middling two pair on the river to see his opponent turn over a busted straight draw, earning him the victory.

That sums up PokerNews Friday night coverage of the partypoker US Network Online PKO Series. Be sure to come back Saturday at 7:30 p.m. for Event #7, featuring another $109 PKO Bounty Boost with a $10,000 guaranteed prize pool.

"BelblixteredOG" Eliminated in 2nd Place ($1,113 + $516 in Bounties)

"BelblixteredOG"
"BelblixteredOG"

In Level 25 with blinds of 14,000/28,000, Daniel "centrfieldr23" Lupo opened to 56,000 on the button and "BelblixteredOG" defended their big blind. The flop dropped {10-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{10-Spades} and both players checked, bringing the turn {8-Diamonds}. "BelblixteredOG" bet 119,000 and Lupo called.

The river fell {4-Clubs} and "BelblixteredOG" shoved for 260,000 into a pot of just over 350,000. Lupo thought for a couple of seconds and then clicked the call button.

"BelblixteredOG": {9-Diamonds}{7-Spades}
Daniel "centrfieldr23" Lupo: {8-Hearts}{6-Spades}

Lupo found his call with tens and eights to be correct, as "BelblixteredOG" had shoved with a busted straight draw. The pot was shipped to Lupo, resulting in him amassing all of the chips in the tournament to take it down for $1,709 + $1,949 in bounties, totaling $3,658. Meanwhile, "BelblixteredOG" finished in second place, earning a cash of $1,113 plus $516 in accompanying bounties, bringing their total earnings to $1,629 for the tournament.

A recap of the entire tournament will be posted shortly.

In Level 24 with blinds of 12,000/24,000 and an ante of 3,000, Daniel "centrfieldr23" Lupo jammed in the small blind to put "bertdoggy" all in for their last 326,000 in the big blind. "bertdoggy" called.

"bertdoggy": {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}
Daniel "centrfieldr23" Lupo: {k-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}

Unfortunately for "bertdoggy," they wound up on the wrong end of the coin flip as the board ran out {9-Spades}{8-Spades}{k-Spades}{6-Spades}{j-Hearts}, giving Lupo two pair as they missed a backdoor open-ended straight flush draw to take third place in the tournament.

Heads-up play has now begun with Lupo beginning the match with nearly a five-to-one chip advantage.

In Level 24 with blinds of 12,000/24,000 and an ante of 3,000, "BelblixteredOG" opened to 48,000 in the cutoff and "triplewham42" three-bet jammed for 380,000 in the small blind. "BelblixteredOG" called.

"triplewham42": {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}
"BelblixteredOG": {a-Clubs}{4-Hearts}

"triplewham42" was out in front and remained there for the flop {3-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} and turn {6-Diamonds}. Unfortunately for them, the river {a-Diamonds} gave "BelblixteredOG" a pair of aces and proved to be the last card of their tournament. They finished in fourth place, earning a payday of $568 for their efforts.

"Lanfeust"

In Level 23 with blinds of 10,000/20,000 and an ante of 2,500, Daniel "centrfieldr23" Lupo opened to 40,000 in the cutoff and "Lanfeust" defended their big blind. Action went heads up to a flop of {10-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{k-Spades} and "Lanfeust" check-called a continuation-bet of 40,000.

The turn came {6-Spades} and "Lanfeust" check-called a second barrel of 39,000. The river fell {5-Spades} and "Lanfeust" jammed for 140,000 into a pot of 264,000. Lupo immediately called.

Lupo Hits a Million

"centrfieldr23"
"centrfieldr23"

In Level 23 with blinds of 10,000/20,000 and an ante of 2,500, action folded around to "BelblixteredOG" on the button, who limped. Daniel "centrfieldr" Lupo completed his small blind and "triplewham42" checked their option in the big blind, taking action three ways to a flop of {7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}. Both players in the blinds checked and "BelblixteredOG" bet 56,000. Lupo called and "triplewham42" folded.

Action was then heads up to the turn {5-Spades}, where both players checked. Lupo then fired 138,000 on the river {k-Diamonds} and "BelblixteredOG" thought for a few moments before making the call.

Lupo showed {8-Clubs}{5-Clubs} for a turned straight and took down the pot upon his opponent mucking. With the pot, he is now over 1.2 million, becoming the first player in the tournament to reach seven figures in chips.
