Day 1 Completed
partypoker US Network Online Series Event #8: $15K GTD 6-Max NLH came to an end early Saturday morning with "Cholie" overcoming a 10:1 chip deficit and defeating John "Slapshot1085" Forlenza heads-up for the first-place prize of $8,658.04.
The eighth event saw 98 players start the tournament with that number steadily increasing throughout the registration period as "Cholie" outlasted a field of 234 entries at $215 apiece.
The 234 total entries completely smashed the guarantee and generated a total prize pool of $46,800 that would be paid out to the top 40 players.
Once registration ended, only 72 players remained and that number quickly dwindled as "trevjzal" bubbled the tournament at the start of Level 21, leaving the remaining players in the money.
From there, players started dropping by the wayside as Eric alwaysliquid Vanauken (37th place - $336.02), Matthew "gailums" Gailums (32nd Place - $362.70), Sridhar sri100k Sangannagari (18th Place - $472.68), Jaime "mooseman1710" Reyes (15th Place - $561.60), and Mike IIIIIIIIIIII Haberman (11th Place - $655.20) all got a piece of the pie but fell short of the making final table.
Place | Player | Prize |
---|---|---|
1 | "Cholie" | $8,658.04 |
2 | John "Slapshot1085" Forlenza | $6,71.80 |
3 | Brian TopCreature Sherrier | $5,031 |

5 | Dan mj23style Sewnig | $2,995.20 |
6 | "Redskin83" | $2,293.20 |
The end of Level 29 saw "Redskin83" bow out first in sixth place after their big slick fell victim to Forlenza's ace-queen.
After being seen atop the leaderboard the entire day and taking the chip lead into the final table, Dan mj23style Sewnig's luck came to an end when his pocket queens came up short against Forlenza holding ace-queen once again.
The same level saw "juansolo10" take their exit in fourth place after holding sixes-full-of-twos against Forlenza who held sixes-full-of-kings.
Brian TopCreature Sherrier was the next person to fall victim to Forlenza after he turned quads to send Sherrier home in third place.
The heads-up battle saw Forlenza hold a 10:1 chip advantage over "Cholie" and what looked like a quick win for Forlenza turned out to be his nightmare.
After their first double-up, "Chole" went on a winning streak, collecting pot after pot until the final hand where Forlenza called off his remaining stack after flopping top-pair but ended up falling short to "Cholie's" pocket kings.
