Stone Gets Eliminated

Katie Stone
Katie Stone

Blinds: 600/1,200

Katie "KatieStone" Stone found herself down to her last 12,650 and called all in from the big blind after her opponent, "Selurznug" open-jammed on the button.

Katie "KatieStone" Stone: {5-Spades}{5-Diamonds}
"Selurznug": {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

Any hope Stone had of hitting a five to pull ahead was dashed on the flop {k-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{4-Spades}, giving her opponent a set of tens and leaving her in need of hitting perfect running cards to quads. The turn {3-Spades} made the improbable into an impossibility, leaving her drawing dead to the river {9-Clubs} and leaving her eliminated as "Selurznug" punched their ticket into Round Two.

Lopez Down, But Not Out

"RobertJordan"
"RobertJordan"

Blinds: 500/1,000

Chips went in on a flop of {2-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{k-Spades} to multiply the pot and balloon it up to 25,000 between "RobertJordan" in the big blind and Angel "chromeking" Lopez, who was on the button.

"RobertJordan" bet another 8,000 on the turn {4-Hearts} and Lopez called, bringing the river {a-Hearts}. "RobertJordan" jammed for the 20,800 effective that Lopez had behind, and Lopez quickly let his hand go.

Vanauken Onto Round Two

Eric Vanauken
Eric Vanauken

Blinds: 400/800

Down to under half of their original starting stack, "WmPfrom414" raised to 1,600 on the button and was three-bet shoved for their stack of 23,498 by Eric "alwaysliquid" Vanauken in the big blind. "WmPfrom414" called and the two were off to the races.

"WmPfrom414": {a-Hearts}{j-Spades}
Eric "alwaysliquid" Vanauken: {5-Spades}{5-Hearts}

"WmPfrom414" needed to hit an ace or jack to stay alive and found no help on the flop {q-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{7-Diamonds}. The turn {5-Clubs} was an even worse card for them, giving Vanauken a set that left them drawing dead to the river {9-Diamonds}.

As a result, "WmPfrom414" was eliminated in Round One while Vanauken has advanced to the second Round of 32 and finds himself one victory away from making it into the money.

Pahuja Calls Correctly

Vinny Pahuja
Vinny Pahuja

Blinds: 300/600

There was 10,900 in the middle on a board of {3-Clubs}{q-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} and Brian "TopCreature" Sherrier checked in the big blind. Vinny "brownmagic" Pahuja checked behind on the button and the river came {9-Spades}. Sherrier bet 6,600 and Pahuja went down to the wire, electing to call just before his time bank kicked in.

Sherrier showed {k-Spades}{2-Spades} for the bluff and Pahuja took down the pot with top pair {q-Hearts}{4-Hearts}.

Get to Know BorgataPoker.com Sponsored Pro Katie Stone

Katie Stone
Katie Stone

BorgataPoker.com has a trio of Sponsored Pros, and one of them is Katie Stone.

Stone has more than $176K in lifetime live tournament earnings including a career-bet $33,305 for finishing 378th in the 2018 World Series of Poker Main Event. In addition, Stone has three Borgata Open titles including the 2018 Borgata Fall Poker Open $300 Deepest Stack for $19,337, 2017 Borgata Summer Poker Open $300 Ladies Event for $2,867, and 2017 Borgata Fall Poker Open $300 Deepstack for $9,484. She also recently won the CSOP Borgata Winter Poker Open Event back in January.

However, where Stone has really thrived is online where she’s amassed more than $900K in lifetime earnings. Of that, $146,954 has come on BorgataPoker.com where she plays under the screen name “KatieStone.”

According to a Q&A she did with the Borgata Blog, Stone was born and raised in New Jersey, but after Black Friday in 2011, she relocated to Rosarito, Mexico in order to continue playing online. When New Jersey authorized Atlantic City casinos to offer online gaming within state borders, Stone moved back north to New Jersey and picked up where she left off — winning!

Recently, Stone took the initiative to create the Discord channel “Poker Peeps Affected By COVID19” and invited those in casino industry affected by recent shutdowns to join.

“I realized how tough it was going to be for everyone to keep up with everything and everyone, with so much changing so fast,” Stone recently told PokerNews. “So, I messaged my friend Cy Watson, who has been very active on social media as well regarding Coronavirus, asking him if he thought it would be a good idea to start a chat for people in the industry to be able to connect with each other for help.”

She continued: “I think the main thing poker players and everyone can do is to keep an open mind. Understanding that this is unlike any situation any of us have encountered before, and so thinking outside the box can go a long way. Taking the time to improve a skill, or learn a new skill whether it's a game or something else could be really beneficial not just financially, but mentally.”

Event #2 of the partypoker US Network Players Choice Series (Heads-Up 64 Max) Begins At 8 p.m. ET

partypoker US
partypoker US

The partypoker US Network Players Choice Series is bringing a less-common form of tournament poker into the spotlight Monday night, with Event #2: Heads-Up (64 Max) NLH next on the schedule.

Registration is capped at 64 players for this $109 buy-in tournament and is nearly full with less than three hours to go before play begins. This means that anybody within the state of New Jersey who wishes to compete across one of the three platforms of partypoker US, Borgata Poker and BetMGM Poker should register before it is too late to do so.

In this format, each player will play one heads-up match per round against their opponent in the tournament bracket. The top 16 will make it into the money, meaning all entrants must win two matches to see a return on their investment. Play will start sharply at 8 p.m. ET with stacks of 50,000 and eight-minute blinds that begin at 250/500 and an ante of 75.

Event #2 Payouts

With the 64-max event featuring a guaranteed full prize pool of $6,400, payouts have been determined even before the last handful of spots fill and they have been provided below.

1$1,552
2$784
