Brobyn Sliding
Level 8
: 400/800, 800 ante
Robert Brobyn, who had the chip lead, was paying out a double when we arrived to Table 40. It looked like he'd gotten his stack in with on an eight-high flop containing two spades against his neighbor in the small blind, who had pocket queens. Brobyn paid out 28,500.
Moments later, Brobyn battled with that same player, this time hijack versus cutoff. The board read and Brobyn checked. With about 23,000 in the pot, the cutoff bet 16,000 and Brobyn folded with a sigh.
"Should have just shoved it in," he said. "I almost did. You didn't have a flush. No way you had a flush."
