Hutter Loses Chip Lead at the End
With the final board reading , Barry Hutter checked to Georgios Sotiropoulos. Sotiropoulos fired a bet of 31,600, to which Hutter responded by moving all in. With just over 77,000 behind, Sotiropoulos went into the tank.
... and tank he did.
After seven or eight minutes of watching Sotiropoulos tank — so long that most of the other tables began to bag up their chips — Will "The Thrill" Failla asked for the clock. A member of the floor staff appeared, assessed the situation, and informed the table that he wouldn't put the clock on Sotiropoulos because the tournament clock had been stopped and Sotiropoulos wasn't wasting any time actual tournament time.
"You know you're wrong, right?" said Failla straight away. "We can't just sit here all night."
"We've still got more hands to play, that can't be right," said Jason Mercier, who was also seated at the table.
A second member of the floor staff came over and it was determined that the clock would in fact be put on Sotiropoulos. After about 45 seconds passed, Sotiropoulos stuck in his chips to make the call.
Hutter tabled the for two pair, but that was no good against Sotiropoulos' for the nut flush. Sotiropoulos was all in on the river for a total of 108,800 and doubled to about 260,000. Hutter was left with about 170,000 in chips.
"Get the f*** outta here with that hand!" exclaimed Failla, very surprised at how long Sotiropoulos took with the nut flush. "I thought he had aces."
"I thought he had a full house," commented Mercier with a smile.
"A full house?!?!" said Failla. "You guys are f***ing wizards over here."
