Greenwood Slips, Gets a Shove Through Smith

Level 12 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Sam Greenwood
Sam Greenwood

Despite starting the day as chip leader, Sam Greenwood has slipped and found himself as a short stack before he open-jammed for 59,000 from the cutoff as action folded to Dan Smith in the big blind.

"Hmm, how much is it?!" Smith asked as he held up his cards and contemplated a call. Eventually, Smith landed on a fold.

He may have wanted his opponent to stick around as right before the hand the two were engaged in a conversation about music, with Smith revealing he listened to Radiohead's Kid A "every day walking to high school."

"I'm not a Radiohead guy," Greenwood confessed. "Like I don't love them and I don't hate them."

Smith asked Greenwood if he had a favorite band but the Canadian couldn't pick one.

Level 12 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Daniel Dvoress
Daniel Dvoress

Michael Addamo had just lost a small blind versus blind pot against Dan Smith when he opened to 10,000 on the button. Daniel Dvoress in the big blind three-bet to 42,000 and Addamo quickly laid it down.

"Oh Danny, Danny," Addamo said before shooting his cards over to Dvoress, who flipped over one to reveal the {a-Diamonds}.

The Canadian was then kind enough to show {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}.

Beresford Busts Thanarattrakul

Level 12 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Conor Beresford
Conor Beresford

Conor Beresford opened from early position to 8,000 and found a call from Kannapong Thanarattrakul in the big blind. Thanarattrakul checked the {k-Spades}{8-Hearts}{7-Hearts} flop before Beresford continued for 11,000.

Thanarattrakul called to the {4-Clubs} turn and check-called again after Beresford bet 33,000. The river {7-Spades} saw Thanarattrakul check one last time and Beresford bet enough to put him all in.

Thanarattrakul did not take long to make the call, turning over {10-Hearts}{8-Clubs} for two pair with eights and sevens. Beresford revealed {a-Spades}{k-Hearts} for a better two pair, good enough to eliminate Thanarattrakul on the last level of late registration.

Smith Can't Bluff the German Prince

Level 11 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Fedor Holz
Fedor Holz

Fedor Holz opened to 9,000 in middle position and Dan Smith flat-called from the cutoff.

Holz checked on the flop of {8-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and Smith bet 9,000. Holz called. Holz checked again on the {3-Diamonds} turn and Smith checked back.

Holz checked a third time on the {4-Diamonds} river and Smith announced a bet of 30,000. Holz took some time and called.

Smith tabled {k-Hearts}{q-Clubs} for just king-high and Holz showed {6-Clubs}{6-Spades} for a pair of sixes, showing he wasn't scared of the four diamonds on board.

David Yan

The $50,000 PCA Single Day High Roller was won by New Zealand's David Yan earlier this week. This 6-Max tournament attracted a star-studded High Roller cast, with Yan agreeing a heads-up deal with Orpen Kisacikoglu.

Yan banked $485,690 for this victory, after 14 hours of play, and told PokerNews that his victory was down to running "insane"

“I’m pretty grateful for the experience" Yan told PokerNews after his victory. "When you play such a little amount, it’s just basically anything can happen. Today I just ran insane, the field was one of the tougher ones we’ve seen".

Juan Pardo
Juan Pardo

A battle of the blinds between Kannapong Thanarattrakul and Juan Pardo was checked through the {9-Spades}{8-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop, before Thanarattrakul fired a bet of 38,000 on the {5-Spades} turn.

Pardo counted his stack before making the call and quickly faced an all-in bet from Thanarattrakul after the {3-Clubs} river.

Pardo took a moment before making the call for all of his chips, revealing {4-Spades}{2-Clubs} for a pair of deuces. Thanarattrakul turned over {j-Spades}{7-Hearts} for a missed flush and straight draw, leaving Pardo with the double up.

Vogelsang Calls Correctly

Level 11 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Christoph Vogelsang
Christoph Vogelsang

Christoph Vogelsang's button raise was called by Sam Greenwood in the small blind and Fedor Holz in the big blind. The action checked to Vogelsang after the {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} flop and he continued for 8,000. Greenwood took his time before announcing a raise to 28,000, producing a fold from Holz and a call from Vogelsang.

Greenwood then led out on the {10-Hearts} turn for 60,000 and Vogelsang used a time bank card while counting his remaining stack. He eventually slid in the call to see the {9-Hearts} river.

Greenwood led out again, this time betting enough to put Vogelsang all in. Vogelsang removed his hood before sliding in another call, this time for his tournament life.

Greenwood revealed {q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} for kings and tens before Vogelsang turned over {k-Spades}{6-Hearts} for three kings, good enough for the full double up.

Sean Winter wasted no time becoming the new chip leader as he secured a big double up through Mikita Badziakouski.

The board had already run out {9-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} when PokerNews arrived at the table with Winter holding {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}. Badziakouski's hand had already been mucked.

Badziakouski was still left with over 120,000 but lost the rest of it shortly after the start of Level 11.
