Lifu Doubles Through Qien, Li Snatches Lead

Both of the table short stacks Weizhou Zha and Simon Burns have moved all in a couple of times apiece to take down the blinds and antes and both are sitting on roughly 850,000 each.

Liu Lifu was only narrowly ahead of the pair but has just earned a double at the expense of Huang Qien. Pre-flop it was Qien who was the aggressor, moving all-in for 2 million from the small blind when the action was folded around to him.

Liu sat back in his chair and rolled his eyes. Eventually though we could see the point he decided to go for it as his demeanour changed and he sat forward and pushed in his chips.

Liu Lifu: {a-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Huang Qien: {10-Spades}{7-Spades}

While Lifu had the lead it was a 60/40 and those can easily be lost. However, the {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} flop kept Lifus nose in front and with the {4-Diamonds} turn and {k-Clubs} river not changing anything he doubled to 1.95 million while Qien dropped to 1 million.

The break started shortly after this hand, but not before Michael Soyza and Longyun Li played a decent sized pot that saw the latter seize the lead once more.

Pre-flop it was Soyza who was the initial raiser, attacking Weizhou Zha's big blind once again, only it was Li who played back at him from the small blind, making it 525,000 to go. Zha folded but Soyza made the call and it was heads up to a flop of {q-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{j-Spades}.

That's a re-raiser's flop if ever we have seen one, and Li thought so too, leading out for 500,000 and Soyza folded immidiately. All that excitment brings us to the second break of teh day - chip counts to follow.

Soyza Targets Zha

While he may have doubled recently, Zha is still the table shorty and Michael Soyza is continuing to pound his big blind. Unless Zha takes a stand soon, we are pretty sure this state of affairs will continue as Soyza has a lot of chips to spare.

The Malaysian player made it 135,000 to go from the button and Zha chose to defend and the flop came down {j-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}. This saw Soyza continuation bet 160,000 and Zha let it go quickly, leaving Soyza to rake in the pot unopposed. Soyza is now up to 4.2 million while Zha has dropped back down to 850,000.

Soyza Tests Zha, Zha Doubles Through Li; Soyza Now Leads

Malaysia's Michael Soyza
Malaysia's Michael Soyza

Weizhou Zha is still the table short stack and he now has even less chips with which to mount a comeback after folding out a big pot against Michael Soyza. Pre-flop it was Zha who was the man initially driving the action with a UTG+1 open to 130,000.

Soyza made the call from the big blind and both players checked the {10-Clubs}{7-Spades}{4-Diamonds} flop. The Malaysian player decided that Zha couldnt have much and seized the initiative on the turn with a chunky 410,000 bet. Zha thought it over C it was a big call for nearly half of his remaining chips C but chose to call and the {9-Spades} hit the river.

Perhaps sensing weakness, or maybe he was just bullying, Soyza moved all-in and Zha now had a real decision to make.

Zha did not look happy about it but eventually folded to drop to 550,000 while Soyza now has 4 million.

The next hand saw the action fold around to Longyun Li in the small blind. Li could smell the blood in the water and decided to bully Zha, moving all-in but was quickly called and the cards were turned over.

Longyun Li: {k-Hearts}{q-Spades}
Weizhou Zha: {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}

Zha was in bad shape but hit the perfect flop, which came down {k-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{10-Clubs}. Li had a black queen but it was not the {q-Clubs} meaning Zhas two pair was now in front. The {k-Spades} turn saw Li make trips and Zha improve to a full house and the {7-Hearts} river saw Zha double to bring himself back in to contention.

Zha now has 1.2 million while Li dropped to 3.7 million, which means Michael Soyza has now edged into the chip lead.

Qien Doubles Through Lifu

Liu Lifu keeps waking up with ace-king, but is now one for one after losing a big flip against Huang Qien. Pre-flop it was Qien the man to shove first, moving all-in from the small blind for 705,000 with Lifu making a speedy call.

Huang Qien: {7-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}
Liu Lifu: {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}

The board ran out {10-Clubs}{6-Spades}{j-Spades}{10-Spades}{8-Hearts} to grant Qien the double and he climbed to 1,500,000 while Lifu dropped to around 750,000.

Lifu Doubles Through Li

It looked like the final table was about to become a six-handed affair with Liu Lifu moving all-in for his last 840,000 from the button and getting a quick call from chip leader Longyun Li and the cards were turned over.

Liu Lifu: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}
Longyun Li: {5-Spades}{5-Hearts}

Lifu was racing for his tournament life with two overcards against the pocket pair of Li and the {8-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{7-Spades} flop was not a good one. The {6-Clubs} turn saw Lifu teeter on the edge of elimination before the {a-Diamonds} hit the river to grant Lifu the much needed double. Lifu climbed to 1.7 million after that timely catch while Li dropped down to 3.9 million but still held the chip lead.

Soyza Overtakes Hang, Qien Shoves on Burns

Michael Soyza edges in front of Zhong Yuan Hang
Michael Soyza edges in front of Zhong Yuan Hang

An interesting played out between Michael Soyza and Zhong Yuan Hang the saw Soyza overtake the one-time chip leader, much to Hangs displeasure.

Pre-flop it was Soyza who was the initial aggressor, making it 110,000 to go from the cutoff. Action folded around to Hang in the big blind and he peeked at his cards and reached for raising chips, making it 350,000 to go.

Soyza thought it over and slid in the call and it was heads-up to the all black {10-Spades}{q-Spades}{4-Spades} flop, which Hang led for 375,000. Soyza called to keep the action heads-up to the {5-Spades} turn, which saw both players slow it down and check.

The {k-Spades} river completed a flush for both players and the action went check, check once more. Hang turned over {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} for the rivered top set but this was not enough to beat the board, let alone Soyzas {9-Hearts}{9-Spades} nine high flush C something that Hang was less than pleased about.

Simon Burns tried to get something going the next hand with a late position raise to 110,000 but folded quickly when big blind Huang Qien moved all-in for 725,000.

Li Back in Front

Zhong Yuan Hang and Longyun Li are taking it in turns to swap the chip lead, though it looks as though Li has edged out in front a little more, with Hang bleeding some chips with a couple of lose calls to drop down to 3.7 million.

The short-stacked Weizhou Zha has been pretty quiet so far but has finally won a hand after limping pre-flop and fighting against blinds Liu Lifu and Michael Soyza.

Zha led out for 80,000 on the {8-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{4-Hearts} flop with Soyza the only caller, but after Zha doubled barrelled the {k-Spades} turn the Malaysian player quickly folded.

Zha and Li tangled in a small pot the very next hand, with Li raising to 125,000 from the small blind and Zha defending from the big blind. However, a 125,000 Li continuation bet on the {2-Spades}{4-Spades}{q-Hearts} flop was enough to get Zha to give it up.

Soyza Gets Aggressive, Hang Retakes Lead

Michael Soyza is upping the aggression and has just won two back-to-back hands. In the first Soyza raised to 110,000 from middle position and found no customers to win the blinds and antes.

Soyza opened again for the same from early position the very next hand, only this time Huang Qien chose to defend from the big blind. Qien checked the {2-Spades}{2-Spades}{j-Diamonds} flop over to the Malaysian, who continuation bet 115,000, which Qien called to bring in the {q-Spades} turn.

This saw a second check from Qien and a second barrel from Soyza, this one a slightly larger 250,000. Qien asked Soyza how much more he was playing C550,000 C before thinking things over but eventually chose to fold and Soyza climbed to 1.3 million.

The next hand saw Zhong Yuan Hang make it 110,000 to go from the button and Liu Life, who has been pretty quiet so far, re-raised to 325,000. Hang looked at him suspiciously, thought it over and threw in the call.

Lifu now chose to check the monochrome {k-Spades}{5-Spades}{4-Spades} flop, as did Hang and the {9-Hearts} hit the turn. Action went check, check once more and the {6-Hearts} landed on the river.

This saw Lifu check for a third time and Hang reached for chips, leading out for a hefty 400,000, which is enough to win the pot and re-seize the chip lead.
