Ali Imsirovic Victorious in PokerGO Cup Event #2: $10K NLHE for Seventh PokerGO Tour Title ($183,000)

Ali Imsirovic Wins PokerGO Cup Event #2

The poker sensation from Bosnia and Herzegovina has done it yet once again as on Thursday evening Ali Imsirovic defeated partypoker Ambassador Jason Koon in heads-up play to win the PokerGo Cup Event #2: $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em for $183,000.

PokerGO Tour Leaderboard captain Imsirovic entered the final table as the table captain and put up a stunning display eliminating four of his five final opponents en route to victory.

It has easily been the year of Imsirovic as he has amazingly won seven different PokerGO Tour events in 2021 as part of his equally impressive 18 cashes and $2,642,460 in tour earnings. This is four more victories than any other player with 2021 U.S. Poker Open champion David Peters and Sean Perry, closest, but yet far behind, with three victories each.

"I suppose it’s just the work ethic and studying," Imsirovic said to PokerGO when asked why he feels he’s able to continually compete at such a high level in events of this caliber. "The more I study, the more confident I feel when I play. Usually when there is a big series going on, before I’m just spending all of my time working on my game so when I show up I feel very confident and try and play my best. It doesn’t always happen, but I typically feel way more confident when that happens and better results usually come out of it."

The event proved to be popular among the high roller community with 61 entries generating a healthy $610,000 prize pool. The final table, which took place at the PokerGO Studio at the ARIA Resort & Casino, was broadcasted to poker fans around the world at the subscription-based PokerGO.

PokerGO Cup Event #2: $10,000 NLHE Final Table Action

Imsirovic began the final table with the chip lead and had more than two-thirds the chips in play after eliminating Frank Funaro (fifth - $48,800) and Matas Cimbolas (sixth - $36,600).

It wasn't all smooth sailing for Imsirovic. During four-handed play, Imsirovic jammed the button with queen-nine and was called by Mo Rahim in the small blind with ace-ten and by Koon in the big blind with ace-queen for about 10 big blinds each. The board ran dry and Koon tripled up into second place while Rahim was left with crumbs before eventually bowing out in fourth place for $61,000 with the rest of his chips heading over to Dylan Lynde.

Lynde continued his momentum and eventually took the chip lead before Imsirovic quickly snagged it back. Eventually, time ran out for Lynde in third place for $85,400 in a cooler of his hand where he ran his queens into Imsirovic's cowboys.

Heads-up lasted just one hand with Imsirovic holding triple the stack of Koon. Koon limped with ace-nine before he called a jam by Imsirovic with king-deuce. All it took for Imsirovic to win the event was a deuce on the flop to pair up his hand and Koon had to settle for the healthy runner-up prize of $122,000 after his hand didn't hold to even up the stacks.
