Soverel Leads and Negreanu Alive with 5 Players Remaining in PokerGO Cup Event #8: $100K NLHE

The inaugural PokerGO Cup at the PokerGO Studio at the ARIA Resort & Casino is coming to a close with perhaps the best event saved for last with the buy-in increased to six figures for the PokerGO Cup Event #8: $100,000 No-Limit Hold'em.

The event attracted 23 entries to create a $2,300,000 prize pool with the top four players guaranteed at least a $230,000 payday with the eventual winner taking home a massive $1,058,000 top prize.

Sam Soverel eliminated Stephen Chidwick near the end of the opening day and will enter the five-player official final table with a commanding chip lead with 2,225,000 in chips.

All eyes will be on Daniel Negreanu, who ended a nearly eight-year dry spell on finding the winner's circle before winning Event #7: $50,000 on Tuesday evening, and will aim for back-to-back victories with 735,000 in chips.

The currently PokerGO Leaderboard captain Ali Imsirovic has a sweat in the final event. If Negreanu finishes in third place or better, he will be crowned the inaugural PokerGO champion. If this doesn't happen, Soverel can also win the leaderboard with a victory in the final event.

Meanwhile, Dan Smith (690,000), Cary Katz (565,000), and Sean Winter (385,000) will all aim to spin up their short stacks with their eyes on the massive $1,058,000 top prize.
