Break Time

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Players are now on their second 15-minute break of the day. The late entry and re-buy period will finish when this concludes so we will be able to give you some official numbers and the like after play resumes.

Some food for thought on the break.

Derwiche Busts Chen Before Break

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Wai Wa Chen looked like he wanted to go big or go home and ended up doing the latter. Pre-flop it was Imad Derwiche who opened the action with a raise to 12,000 from the button and Chen shoved for 90,000 from the big blind.

The Frenchman asked for a count, thought it over and then threw in a single yellow 5k chip to represent the call and the cards were turned over.

Wai Wa Chen: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Imad Derwiche: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}

The {5-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{k-Spades}{4-Spades}{5-Spades} board totally missed Chen meaning Derwiche won a sizable pot and that action brings the level to a close.

Fresh Blood and Familiar Faces

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

There have been a few new late arrivals and a couple of old ones. It appeared we incorrectly reported the Yu Liang was on his second bullet when he busted earlier as he is now back in action and Tobias Ziegler has also chosen to re-enter for the the second time.

New arrivals include Wai Wa Chen and France’s Imad Derwiche to bring the total number of entries (including re-entries) up to 45.

Sammartino Wins Flashing Competition

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Despite the title, there is no nudity in this post and it has been rated PG-13 as it does contain some action, just not that much.

The table folded around to Canlin Chen on the button and he made it 10,000 before Dario Sammartino popped it up to 34,500 from the big blind. This did not deter Chen who made the call and it was heads-up to a flop of {10-Hearts}{3-Spades}{8-Hearts}.

Sammartino thought it over and then decided to continuation bet 30,000 and while Chen looked tempted he thought better of it and folded, flashing Sammartino the {k-Clubs} as he did so.

“I have one of those,” said Sammartino, obligingly flashing Chen the {k-Hearts} before raking in the pot.

Last Level For Re-Entry

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

This is the last level for both re-entries and late entries so we will have a better idea shortly of the prize pool, field size and total number of bullets fired, but for now 26 players remain in contention.

Zhao Catches Murthy on Hook

Level 7 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Neel Murthy has been a busy bunny and has been splashing around in quite a few pots to chip up. However, Murthy has been temporarily thwarted by Hongjun Zhao, who opened the action with a raise to 9,500 from early position with Murthy making the call from the big blind.

The {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} flop brought checks from both players and Murthy also checked the {k-Diamonds} turn. Needing no further encouragement Zhao fired for 10,000 and with chips to spare Murthy tossed in the call.

The {5-Spades} river paired the board and brought a third check from Murthy and Zhao mulled over his options before deciding the right amount to bet was 22,000.

With the hook baited all Zhao needed now was a bite and Murthy obliged. Zhao turned over {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} for a full house and Murthy tapped the table and mucked.

Weis Cements Lead

Level 7 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Oliver Weis
Oliver Weis

Two of the field’s bigger stacks – Oliver Weis and Mustapha Kanit – have just tangled in hand that proved to be a little expensive for the latter.

While we missed the pre-flop action there was already over 20,000 already in the pot and the {a-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{2-Hearts} community cards were already spread.

First to act Kanit checked it over to Weis on the button, who elected to lead out for 7,000. Kanit called and it was off to the {3-Spades} turn, which brought checks from both players.

The {4-Spades} river brought four to a straight and Kanit checked it over to Wies once again, who fired for 19,000. Kanit obviously had a plan for the hand and check-raised to 83,000 in total and Wies snap called.

Kanit sheepishly rolled over {10-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} for bottom pair but Weis had just rivered the wheel with {k-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} and took a big bite out of Kanit’s stack.

There have been a number of casualties recently and while we have not been able to catch their exit hands we do know one of them is Bertrand Grospellier.
