Alner and Troyanovskiy Battle Ends Anti-climatically
The UK’s Tom Alner will be wanting to add a shiny gold PokerStars Championship trophy to his two Red Dragon Main Event trophies but his stack is remaining static at present.
Alner opened the action with a raise to 450 from middle position and picked up a caller in the form of Ukraine’s Dmytro Denysenko before Vladimir Troyanovskiy pumped it up to 2,000. The Brit thought things over briefly before opting to raise to 5,100 and while this was enough to deter Denysenko, Troyanovskiy was going nowhere and made the call to take play heads-up to a flop.
After mulling things over Alner led out for 4,000 and Troyanovskiy made the call to bring the action to the turn.
Alner fired a second barrel of 7,000, Troyanovskiy quickly moved all-in and Alner called instantly. However, with both players holding ace-king the two just chopped up Denysenko’s 450 between them.
“That was a bit anti-climatic,” quipped Alner as the dealer chopped up the pot.
