Martin Crosa Leads PokerStars Festival Uruguay $3,300 High Roller After Six Levels

Day 1 of the inaugural PokerStars Festival Uruguay $3,300 High Roller kicked off at 6:00 p.m. local time on Thursday and a total of 44 entries took to the felt in pursuit of the top prize and trophy. Leading the way after six levels of play is Uruguayan player Martin Crosa, who bagged a stack of 171,700, and just behind him is Hugo Spangenberg with 159,500. They weren't the only players to more than double their 50,000 starting chips; Francisco Garcia (102,100) and Jesse Rosen (101,700) also bagged six-figure stacks at the conclusion of Day 1 play.
In addition to the big stacks, some other highly-accomplished players will return to the felt on Day 2, including PokerStars Team Pro Leo Fernandez (78,900) and WSOP bracelet winner Andres Korn (64,000). Korn is fresh off a victory in a side event here at the Conrad Hotel & Casino, Event #12 No-Limit Hold'em Unlimited Re-Entry, in which he banked a $15,260 payday. Unfortunately, several well-known and capable players who took to the felt in this event didn't survive the day. Among them was Brazilian star Hugo Marcelo, who hit the rail when he flopped a flush holding ten-eight only to run into the nut flush. However, with late registration open and unlimited re-entries available until the start of level 9 tomorrow, this is still absolutely anybody's tournament.
Day 2 will begin Friday at noon local time with blinds at 300/600 with a 100-chip ante. Late registration and re-entries will close at approximately 2:20 p.m. and the day will end when the final table is reached or at the discretion of tournament staff. The eventual champion is scheduled to be crowned on Saturday.
