PokerStars WCOOP Main Event

Day 2 Completed

Congratulations to Thomas "Kallllle" Pedersen, 2011 PokerStars WCOOP Main Event Champion ($1,260,019)

Level 40 : 60,000/120,000, 15,000 ante
Thomas Pedersen - WCOOP Main Event Champion!
Thomas Pedersen - WCOOP Main Event Champion!

Thomas "Kallllle" Pedersen has added his name to the World Championship of Online Poker history books by joining the likes of Tyson Marks, Yevgeniy Timoshenko and Carter King as Main Event champion! Pedersen weaved his way through a tough field of 1,627 players over two days to claim a prize of $1,260,018.50 and his very first WCOOP bracelet.

The Denmark native came on strong near the final table bubble to claim the chip lead and never looked back from there, eliminating six of the eight players at the final table en route to the title. He locked up more than $1.1 million in a five-way chop and another $100,000 for the victory.

When the day began, all eyes were on Team PokerStars member Eugene Katchalov as he attempted to win two bracelets on the same day -- one in the $10,000 8-Game High Roller and another in the Main Event. Katchalov went on to finish second place in the 8-Game event and 66th in the Main Event when an untimely river card sent him to the rail.

Other notables making deep runs in the Main Event were Luke "lb6121" Schwartz, Mickey "mement_mori" Petersen, Terrence "Unassigned" Chan, Tom "kingsofcards" Marchese, Dani "supernova9" Stern, Niki “RealAndyBeal” Jedlicka, and Mike "goleafsgoeh" Leah, who ultimately took third place for $560,000.

With that, another PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker has come to a close. Thanks for following along with PokerNews and we'll see you later this week for the European Poker Tour stop in London!

Vojtech Ruzicka - 2nd place

Vojtech "Vojta_R" Ruzicka min-raised to 280,000 on the button and Thomas "Kallllle" Pedersen three-bet to 698,765 from the big blind. Ruzicka four-bet shoved for 3,531,136 and was called by Pedersen.

Ruzicka: {3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}
Pedersen: {A-Spades}{10-Hearts}

The flop fell {10-Spades}{9-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}, giving Pedersen a commdaning lead with top pair. The {5-Diamonds} turn left Ruzicka two outs in the deck to survive, but the {4-Hearts} river was not of them. For his outstanding runner-up showing, Vojtech Ruzicka earned $710,000.

Mike "goleafsgoeh" Leah Eliminated in 3rd Place ($560,000)

Mike Leah - 3rd place
Mike Leah - 3rd place

Mike "goleafsgoeh" Leah began today with his eyes set on a second bracelet of the 2011 WCOOP. His exceptional run in the Main Event just ended in third place, but he'll have $560,000 to help ease the pain.

Leah four-bet shoved for 1,553,422 with {Q-Hearts}{A-Diamonds} and Vojtech "Vojta_R" Ruzicka called with {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}. The {10-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{9-Spades} brought no help to Leah and a heads-up match between Vojtech "Vojta_R" Ruzicka and Thomas "Kallllle" Pedersen was about to get underway.
