The lion's share of the $1.185 million prize pool was still up for grabs on Day2 with just 55 of the 1,185 entries in WCOOP-71-H coming back with chips, and things went quickly. In the very first hand "TiltMeBig" took a stack with the best ace to start their run to the final table.
Within about an hour, they were down to just 21 remaining and along the way players like Conor "1_conor_b_1" Beresford, Daniel "judgedredd13" Charlton, and start of day chip leader Jorge "jorginho88" Abreu lost their stacks. It only took another hour to set up the final nine.
"TiltMeBig" was out pretty quickly after coming into the final table short stacked. Jean-Pascal "hopezACE" Savard survived a little longer on his shorty, but was out soon after, shoving ace-five into jacks. They played seven handed for about 15 minutes before three quick busts brought the field down to 4 left.
Four handed play went on for nearly an hour before "MinReraise" got it in on the flop with a straight draw, but bricked out in 4th place. "MrHyde97" quickly went out in 3rd running ace-queen into queens, which set up a heads-up match that went on for nearly an hour.
"arielssouls" came into the heads up battle with the chip lead, and held it during early play until Brummelhuis found a spot to check-shove a river on an ace-high paired board. That got them even, but "arielssouls" jumped back into the lead again when their fives held against a busted flush.
Just a couple hands later though, Brummelhuis was on the good end of a huge cooler when his jacks held up against fives. That put Brummelhuis in control with nearly 100M chips, and while "arielssouls" was able to double back up again, Brummelhuis took it all down a few hands later when he had the best two pair after "arielssouls" bricked a flush draw.
"arielssouls" limped and Michiel "utreg" Brummelhuis checked their option. The flop came and "arielssouls" bet 990K before Brummelhuis came over top for 4.33M. "arielssouls" raised to 12.8M, and Brummelhuis shoved with the biggest stack and got the call.
