Alexandros "mexican222" Kolonias Leads Final 9 in the WCOOP-14-H: $10,300 NLHE High Roller
The 2021 World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) showcased its largest buy-in event thus far this festival at PokerStars with Tuesday featuring the first of two days of the WCOOP 14-H: $10,300 NLHE High Roller. The tournament was another success with 101 entries including 35 re-entries squeaking past the $1,000,000 guarantee with a $1,010,000 prize pool.
The action was down to nine players to end the day after nearly 8 1/2 hours of play with a pair of Greek players on top in Alexandros "mexican222" Kolonias and Alexandros "Pwndidi" Theologis with both players going for their first WCOOP title.
The duo were also responsible for all the Day 1 eliminations that took place once the money was reached after both Daniel "Oxota" Dvoress and "vino la iubi" went out on the money bubble in the same hand to PokerStars Ambassador Benjamin "bencb789" Rolle, who eventually bubbled the final table to end the day.
Theologis eliminated Mike "SirWatts" Watson in 13th place for $21,412, while Kolonias took care of the final three players of the day in Rolle, Simon "C. Darwin2" Mattsson, and Jon "apestyles" Van Fleet for a $25,601 cash.
