At 11 a.m. local time, Day 1a of the 2020 Potomac Winter Poker Open $3,000 Main Event kicks off at the beautiful MGM National Harbor. The first of three starting days gives players a chance to play their way to Day 2 which will take place on Sunday, February 16 and features a wonderful $500,000 prize pool guarantee.

In 2019 there was this edition of the Potomac Open did not exist yet but last August it was Farid Jattin who emerged as the champion after defeating Rajasekar Govindan heads-up for $247,950. Fattin hasnt been spotted here yet but Govindan was close to cashing in the Large Stack tournament two days ago. The tournament collected 348 entries over three starting days with a buy-in of $3,300.

PokerNews has already covered two tournaments here with Yaser Al-Keliddar and Sachin Joshi walking away with the bragging rights. Al-Kelidaar will for sure be back but who knows if the Brit will be back in one of the seats here in the MGM Grand Ballroom?

Players will get 50,000 chips in their start stack and 13 levels of 45 minutes each are scheduled for Day 1a. A 15-minute break will take place after Level 3, 6, and 12 with a 60-minute dinner break after Level 9. At the end of that dinner break, the late registration and single reentry period will be closed.

Day 1b will take place on Saturday, February 15 at the same time of 11 a.m. with Day 1c scheduled to start at 6 p.m. but that flight will only play nine levels. The survivors of Day 1c will return at noon on Sunday, February 13 to play the last four levels of their day. Players can late reg or do their single reentry per flight up until the moment the cards go back in the air at noon on that day.

Day 2 will take place at 3 p.m. local time on Sunday, February 16 with play continuing until 2 a.m. or until the final six players have been reached. The level duration will be increased to 45 minutes each on Day until the final table of nine as the levels will then go up to 75 minutes. And on Monday, February 17, a first-ever Potomac Winter Poker Open Main Event Champion will be crowned!
