Jon Honeycutt Wins Run It Up Reno $125 Six-Max Five-Card PLO ($2,800)
With two tables left in the $125 Six-Max Five-Card Pot-Limit Omaha event at Run It Up Reno, Jon Honeycutt was the chip leader with 168,000 at blinds of 2,000/5,000. He declared at that point that he was going to win the tournament, and that's exactly what he did, topping the 100-player field for $2,800.
The tournament paid out 15 places, and Jason Somerville, who was defending his title from last year's Run It Up Reno, was one of those to make the money. He fell in 10th however, consoling himself with the fact that he has cashed in every PLO event ever held at Run It Up Reno.
Another player to make the money was Jesse Capps (14th), who came runner-up in last year's Main Event here.
Honeycutt was atop the counts when the final table began, closely trailed by Deb Swift. Douglas Charles also advanced to the final table, his third of the series, but he was ousted right away in seventh by Jerry White, who said he was playing his first PLO tournament.
Eliminations happened in quick succession, and after Honeycutt busted White in third, it was he and Swift heads up, the two players who had been unable to agree on terms when a chop was discussed as both coveted the trophy. Honeycutt held the edge chip-wise with a 3-1 lead, and though Swift doubled through him the first time he put her at risk, the second time was a different story.
Swift limped in for 20,000 with a stack of around 200,000, and she and Honeycutt got stacks in after a raising war on a

Honeycutt had Swift dead with the nut straight and a diamond redraw, and he hit that flush on the river for good measure. The trophy Honeycutt had prophesied he would win was indeed his.
