Day 1b of the $600 Run It Up Reno Main Event Begins at Noon
The Run It Up Reno IX $600 Main Event is in full swing! The ninth chapter of the Run It Reno series continues with the second day of its centerpiece event today. Day 1b begins at noon at the Peppermill Resort in Reno, Nevada.
Day 1b is the second of two opening day flights in this $300,000 guaranteed tournament. Players will start with 30,000 starting chips and play through to the money today, with 16 percent of the total entries advancing to Day 2. Players will get 15-minute breaks after every three levels, and a 60-minute dinner break after Level 9. The blinds and antes start at 100/100/100, going up to 2,000/4,000/4,000 by the end of Level 14.
Some of the names that could show up for the Main Event include Run It Up founder Jason Somerville, along with players like Thursday Thrilla champion Ashley Sleeth, who told PokerNews that she'll be firing the Main Event today.
Other players who played Day 1a but didn't make it through on the first try include Brad Owen, Drew Gonzalez, Jimmy
Cappucci, and Run It Up Ambassadors Andrew Neeme, Arlie Shaban and Ricky "ratedGTO" Guan.
The defending champion in this event, Dan OBrien, has been on hand at the Peppermill Resort over the past week. OBrien topped a field of 629 entries in April at Run It Up Reno VIII, taking home a first-place prize of $46,681. OBrien didn't play on Day 1a, so he'll have to register for the Day 1b flight if he wants to defend his championship. With the 629 entries, the previous installment of the Main Event ended up awarding a total prize pool of $329,471.
The Day 1a flight drew 340 total entries, and the event is well on its way toward rising above the $300,000 guarantee.
