Gilliam Finds a Lucky Triple
Tim Gilliam was all in for his last 14,200 from middle position and had been called by the small blind before the big blind went all in over the top for another 50,000-plus. Action was back on the small blind, who thought for about 35 seconds before folding. The dealer then asked for Gilliam and the big blind to turn up their hands.

Gilliam's nines were well behind his opponent's queens, putting him at risk of taking his pick between hitting the rail or revisiting the registration desk. The flop brought him that much closer to that becoming a reality. The turn then came , giving him eight outs to a flush in addition to the two nines in the deck that would complete a full house. The river fell to give him the backdoored four-flush, scoring the triple along with it to find new life shortly before the second break of the evening and the subsequent closing of the registration period.
