Flight A of the RunGood Poker Series Bossier City $100,000 Guaranteed Main Event saw a whopping 135 entries take their shot at the first opportunity to advance in this multi-flight tournament. The field played 12 30-minute levels and saw its total shrink down to just 26 when play concluded. Of those 26, Matt Stroud was the one atop the leader board when chips went into bags, ending the day with a sizeable stack of 288,000.

Stroud was seen consistently growing his stack throughout the evening. He won a few big pots around the midway point of the night to get over 100,000 in chips and never looked back from there, building to 200,000 at the beginning of the final level of the night. He then won a pot with pocket queens to knock out another player and reach nearly a quarter-million, which grew from there to its final total of 288,000 by the time play finished.

Next in the counts is Suzan Samuels (236,000), who was the only other player to bag north of 200,000 in chips. Samuels was another player who built a big stack early and used it to her advantage, continuing to amass chips throughout the evening without much resistance. Christopher Shaw (184,000), Everett Register (171,500), and Brock Croft (147,500) round out the top five in chips.

Other players to advance include Pej Niyati (121,500), RunGood Ambassador Preston McEwen (104,500), and brothers Tim Gilliam (94,300) and Brandon Gilliam (68,500).

A few players who weren’t as fortunate to advance included Ray Henson, Daniel Lowery, and Schuyler Thornton. Some or all of them and more are expected to be seen for Flights B and C, which take place Satuday at noon and 7 p.m., respectively.

Flights B and C are the last two chances to advance to Sunday’s Day 2, where all to advance from the three initial flights will combine under one roof to play down to a winner. PokerNews will be on hand from start to finish providing updates every step of the way, so be sure to come back and stay in the loop as the action unfolds.
