Englekirk Takes Slim Lead After Day 1a of RunGood Poker Series Reno Main Event
Day 1a of the $600 RunGood Poker Series Checkpoint Main Event has ended after close to eight hours of play. The day drew 112 entries, and as the dust settled at the night's end, just 14 players remained.
Ending the night as chip leader was Dwight Englekirk with 433,000 as he barely pipped [Removed:420] (418,000) for the in the clubhouse chip lead in one of the last hands of the night to steal it away from Vinluan who had been overwhelming chip leader with over 650,000 not long before.
Xingyao Wang and Corey Paggeot were the other two players who were able to bag up over 400,000. Both players won several hands in the final few levels of the night to move up the counts and finish on the top shelf. Carlos Resendiz would round out the top five stacks with 341,000 at night��s end.

A couple of other notable players to advance on to Day 2 among the surviving fourteen included; Jessica Plusko (255,000) and Loren Klein (81,000) who was able to survive on the stone bubble at the end of the night when he came from behind to out-flop a pocket pair.
Several players such as Jamie Kerstetter, Conrad Simpson and Ian Steinman took their shot at advancing to Day 2 but will have to try again tomorrow as they found their stacks exhausted during the day.
Jeff Platt will have to give it another shot tomorrow as well, as he tempted fate with a slow roll holding pocket aces against Paggeot but saw them go up in flames against ace-king with runner-runner broadway.
The fourteen players will now advance to Day 2, which is at 12 noon on Sunday. They will be joined by the survivors of Day 1b and Day 1c, played tomorrow.
