Day 1bc of the RunGood Poker Series Reno Main Event has come to an end after two flights of play. Day 1b was the large one with 140 entries and Day 1c capped off the night with 107 entries. Some 17 players survived Day 1b, while 13 were left standing after Day 1c.

Dong Meng finished the day as chip leader with 700,000. He took a big lead in the middle part of Day 1b when he was on the right end of a huge three-way preflop cooler where his pocket aces held through against ace-king and kings. He would not relinquish his lead from there and ended with the largest stack.

Harley Brooks was the top stack of Day 1c as he gathered most of his chips in the final few levels of the night and ended with 650,000.

Kong Wang (537,000), John Kenner (457,000) and Matt Douglas (384,000) rounded out the top 5 stacks at the end of play.

Just missing out on the top 5 was the boisterous big personality of Pat Lyons, who had a solid Day 1b that saw him end with a big stack of 361,000.

A few well-known names were able to advance on to Day 2, including Jeff Platt (173,000) who made it through at the end of the night, Ian Steinman (162,000) and Brian Frenzel (104,000).

The 30 players who survived over the two flights of the day will join those who made it through yesterday to make for a remaining field of 44 for Day 2 which will take place starting at 12 noon local time on Sunday.

Due to a power outage in the tournament area, Day 2 will more than likely be held in a new location; downstairs in the poker room area.

PokerNews will be back in action on Sunday with full coverage of what promises to be a scintillating Day 2.
