Higgins Bags One Shy of One Million In Day 1c of The RunGood Poker Series

Level 15 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Smashing all expectations, the final flight of The RunGood Poker Series Tunica $600 Main Event saw a total of 241 players come out to play. This saw the overall entry number for the entire event rise to 718, with only 30 players from this final flight surviving. The $200,000 guarantee has been smashed as the prizepool now sits at $373,360.

Bagging just one chip short of one million was four-time WSOPC ring winner Matthew Higgins (999,000). Higgins had played the prior two flights of the tournament, but neither of them saw things go his way. This flight saw players all around Higgins drop as the registration closed.

From Level 9 and onwards, Higgins’ stack grew and did not stop, with the final massive hand of the night being a particularly big one as Higgins bluffed into his opponent with a straight draw and flush draw, while his opponent held just top pair. The river completed the flush and allowed him rise over seven-figures briefly before ending one chip shy. With $1,287,413 in lifetime earnings on Hendon Mob, Higgins’ massive results and tournament success are known in this tournament as he comes into the second day of the tournament with the second most chips and a wealth of knowledge. He looks to win his first ever RGPS title to add to his massive resume.

Ending the day behind him was Charles Deatherage (702,000) who collected his third RGPS main event cash, as well as his first in Tunica. Deatherage finished just outside of the RGPS 2022 Tulsa Main Event Final table, but with the third most chips overall, he looks to take another shot at a deep run in a main event.

Joey Gargiulo
RGPS and WSOPC Ring Winner Joey Gargiulo found a bag into Day 2

WSOP bracelet winner Kyle Cartwright (470,000) also found a bag that will have him comfortably in the top ten coming into Day 2. Others who found their way into Day 2 include RGPS ring winner Joey Gargiulo (411,000), Frank Covich (214,000), Brian “TheGoldenBlazer” Frenzel (197,000), Trace Henderson (157,000), and Jon Swift (39,000). Each player will be guaranteed to be in the money, with all eyes on the title.

Play ended with 5:40 left in Level 14 in Day 1a with blinds at 3,000/6,000 and a 6,000 big blind ante. The 23 players from Day 1a, the 35 players from Day 1b, and the 30 players from Day 1c will return at noon this Sunday where they will play down to a winner.
