Day 1c Highlights

The day kicked off with 92 runners and within two hands the flight had its first knockout. Ramazan Tahhusoglu picked up pocket kings, but Charles Melcher had aces, and that was it for Tahhusoglus first bullet. He did return for another chance, and he spun it up to hang around for a while, but he failed to qualify for Day 2. Melcher, however, will move on.

Antwan Prince reigning champion of the inaugural RGPS stop in Jacksonville jumped in for another chance after he failed to last through Day 1a. He ran into trouble early, however, when he mixed it up with Ron Germany. Both got it in with a suited six-four with an open-ended straight draw, but Germanys two diamonds found three on the board to double through the champ. Prince battled back but failed to make Day 2.

Jacki Burkhart

Millward emerged as one of the leaders in the middle part of the day and he commanded a top stack from the dinner break through the end of the session, when he bagged over a half-million chips.

Among the other top finishers was Jacki Burkhart, who shared a table with the last two RGPS Womens event champions Caitlin Comeskey and Rachael Fracassi. Fracassi and Comeskey failed to qualify for Day 2, but Burkhart picked up a lot of chips in the late levels including the elimination of Raymond Leone.

Another standout from Day 1c was Kelly Salgado, who finished with 189,000. She initially had more after an exchange of fire with Ta Phuong where she shoved the turn to take a big pot without showing. Salgado finished second in the $400 PKO earlier in the week and she won the Womens event at the bestbet Winter Series in January. She will return on Sunday with a chance at another big score to push over the $100K mark in career earnings.

Players will return on Sunday at 12 p.m. in Level 15 with blinds at 3,000/5,000/5,000. Levels will remain 40 minutes on Sunday until a winner is declared.

The remaining players will pick up a min-cash of $1,863, but theyre all fighting for the top prize of $104,524 and the privilege of owning a RGPS Main Event ring.
