Day 2 Completed
Almost eight hours were needed for Day 2 of the PokerStars 2020 SCOOP-79-M: $1,050 Super Tuesday Special Edition to finish and it was a well-known name that ended with all the chips in front of him. Adrian "Amadi_017" Mateos managed to win his second SCOOP title after besting Bernardo "Machadada RS" Rocha heads-up. Mateos walked away with a $164,398 prize, which was smaller than the $234,030 he had won along with his first SCOOP title on Event #30-H: $2,100 NLHE [6-max], back in 2017.
The event had 937 entries and didn't surpass the $1,000,000 guaranteed prize pool that was set. Day 2 started with 88 players and except Mateos and Rocha, Simon "Igorkarkarof" Pedersen was in the final table too.

The action was rapid in the first levels of Day 2, with almost half the field eliminated during the first hour of play. There were many short stacks after Day 1 and they had to risk their tournament lives early, which resulted in a lot of quick eliminations. Among the early departures were Kenny "SpaceyFCB" Hallaert, Luke "lb6121" Schwartz, Kevin "KRab42" Rabichow, Anatoly "NL_Profit" Filatov, Michael "M_Acevedo" Acevedo, Connor "blanconegro" Drinan, and Sylvain "caIcuIer_" Loosli.
As the players were approaching the final table, there were many changes in the lead, as most players were very close in stacks and it was uncertain who will comprise the nine finalists. Tomi "elmerixx" Brouk was one of the players who had a big stack for the biggest part of the day but eventually busted in 19th place after losing a flip with queens versus ace-king. The same happened with Sami "Lrslzk" Kelopuro who was leading the pack at some time, but he was eliminated in 15th place. After the bustouts of Pedro "pvigar" Garagnani and Rodrigo "Seijistar" Seiji in 13th and 14th place respectively, it was Serbia's "BBRS999" who emerged as the chipleader, eliminating also "pippozhong" on the final table bubble.
When the final table was set, they played for almost three and a half hours before a winner was crowned. The first three eliminations came quickly, with "vladxxxro", "DaanOss", and "AnFiieLD." busting in 9th, 8th, and 7th place respectively and "BBRS999" was holding the lead at this point. Pedersen and "samuraiUA" followed in 6th and 5th place, leaving the field four-handed.
The stacks were big when the four-handed play started and fourty minutes was the timeframe until the next elimination. "MCalai" stopped his run on 4th place and five minutes later, "BBRS999" followed after losing a big flip with ace-queen against Mateos' pocket tens.
Heads-up play commenced with Mateos having an almost 3-to-1 chip lead over Rocha, but they would have to play for almost two hours before a winner was determined. Both players were fighting tooth and nail for each and every pot, with the lead changing hands a lot of times. The situation turned in favour of Mateos when he made a great call on the river, when Rocha put him to the test with a bluff-shove for his tournament life and Mateos called with third pair. In the final hand, Mateos' ace-nine held against Rocha's queen-jack and he eliminated the last opponent that was standing between him and his second career SCOOP-title.
This wraps up PokerNews' coverage on this event, but make sure to come back here for more news regarding this year's SCOOP.
