Day 1 of the 2023 $1,050 PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) Medium Main Event is in the books and there was plenty of action to be had. There were 3,845 entries throughout the day, of which 1,278 remained when play had concluded after 16 levels. There is still a bit of overlay as the prize pool stands at the guaranteed $4,000,000 so far, but late registration is still open until the start of Day 2, and many players are expected to make use of that option.

When the dust settled, only one player could end up on top of the leaderboard, and it ended up being "Zabiggesmaj" from Canada. They bagged 1,469,772 chips, worth almost 250 big blinds when play resumes. "Neocortex_UA" from Ukraine is trailing closely with a stack of 1,383,534, while Brazil's "Eller77" completes the international top three.

The most recognizable name in the top ten chip counts is that of Christoph "26071985" Vogelsang. The controversial German high roller, playing from the United Kingdom, bagged an impressive 1,067,360, landing him in 6th place on the leaderboard. Roman "RomeOpro" Romanovsky is also one of the ten players who have take more than a million chips into Day 2, occupying the 7th place with 1,047,595.

Of course, many PokerStars Ambassadors also tried their luck in this version of the Main Event. Felix "xflixx" Schneiders fared the best out of all of them, bagging a healthy stack of 529,699 for Day 2. Benjamin "Spraggy" Spragg is on his colleague's heels with a stack of 523,024, while Sam "SamSquid" Grafton and Alejandro "[Papo]AR" Lococo also take over 400,000 chips into Day 2.

The likes of Ramon "RamonColillas" Colillas (326,994), Lex "L. Veldhuis" Veldhuis (220,891), and Parker "tonkaaaa" Talbot (168,950) also found their way to Day 2. In fact, the only "Red Spade" to try and fall is Fintan "easywithaces" Hand, who fired one bullet and thus still has an option to make a reappearance before late registration closes.

Meanwhile, the likes of Simon "C. Darwin2" Mattsson (139,585), Christian "WATnlos" Rudolph (160,218), and Marius "DEX888" Gierse (167,355) will have to settle for a below-average stack.

Play will resume on May 29th at 12:30 p.m. Eastern Time. Day 2 will start with blinds of 3,000/6,000 with an ante of 750. Those who buy in before the start of play will get 100,000 chips to spin up, and a long day is ahead of those who succeed to do so, as the field is scheduled to play down to 80 remaining players.

PokerNews will of course be present to deliver all of the action from one of the biggest online poker tournaments of the year live as it happens, so stay tuned tomorrow for all the big hands from your favorite players.
