Chaotic Start
Out of all those entries, 283 returned at the start of the day and by the time the first break came around, only 167 were left. Stavros "IDOLLS" Kalfas, Mickey "mement_mori" Petersen, Regis "capotinha" Kogler, and Julien "L1VeYRdrEamS" Perouse were some of the fallen players in the first hour of the day. Two hours later, only 50 players were left. Players like Armin "armin1912" Rezaei, Joep "Pappe_Ruk" van den Bijgaart, Luis "luisdono" Dono, Fedor "CrownUpGuy" Holz, Marius "DEX888" Gierse, and Ami "UhhMee" Barer had all busted by then.
Day 1 chip leader Quentin "BisouPartout" Roussey lost everything in two hands, first they doubled up "beerwurst" who would flop a full house after the chips had already all gone in for them. Roussey was left with a bit more than an ante and got his last chips in the hand after in what would become a three-way all-in. "ramondemon77" would end up being the one to claim Roussey's bounty.
Ilari "Fabahaba" Tahkokallio won the SCOOP 07-M: $215 NLHE 7-Max, Turbo, PKO, Sunday Cooldown last night for $53,010 but wuldn't become the first double SCOOP winner of 2021 yet as he busted in 46th place with players like Antonio "guitarpiano" Lafosse, Ben "DoobieFish" Kett, Shawn "buck21" Buchanan, Olli "Er?_Koira" Ikonen, Luigi "Gofaziin26" Soncin, Pascal "P?ffchen" Hartmann, and Felix "TheDegenFund" Van De Put following him in quick succession.
From Three Big Blinds to the Win
"Nethos" was the shortest stack with fewer than 3 big blinds when there were 21 players left after having doubled up "pastefericit", but managed to double up twice through the same player to get back to a still below-average stack. They saw "pastefericit" leave the tournament before them though as the Romanian player lost four all-ins in a row with the last of their chips going to "waveless".
"Nethos" found themselves somewhere in the middle of the pack when there were two tables left. They took out Diogo "phounderAA" Veiga in 18th place while "PokerDave476" took care of "Valenoze". "Nethos" then went on amazing run. They busted "Do-u-ont-river" (16th place), "QuarterFTW" (13th place), and "temp0r2k" to burst the final table bubble to come into the final table as the chip leader.
Grochocki was first to go in ninth place to the hands of "Nethos" before "r?mps?" eliminated "HSVP". But then things went a bit down again for "Nethos". They first doubled up "PokerDave476" and then "Tarjei82" but then managed to send "waveless" crashing out in 7th place. However, "Tarjei82" scored another big double through "Nethos" to take over the chip lead. "PokerDave476" made "Fob92" fall in 6th place before "Nethos" was back in the lead thanks to a double through "r?mps?".
"r?mps?" was left with eleven big blinds but saw "Tarjei82" go first thanks to "Nethos" who would continue using their big stack and aggressiveness. In the end, "r?mps?" fell in fourth place to "beerwurst". The German would double up twice, once through each player but still had to go in third place after running their ace-nine into the ace-king of "Nethos".
With 70% of the chips in play, "Nethos" looked to be cruising to a win but "PokerDave476" didn't give in easily. They once doubled up with the higher rivered two pair, then outkicked "Nethos" when they had both hit the same two pair on the board to take over the chip lead. But "Nethos" did not give up. They doubled up too with a higher kicker before leaving "PokerDave476" short when they jammed on the ten-eight-four-jack-jack board. "PokerDave476" had called with the queen-jack for trips but "Nethos" held the nine-seven for the straight.
In the final hand of the night, "PokerDave476" shoved their last 10 big blinds in with king-ten. "Nethos" called with ace-eight and flopped a pair. "PokerDave476" turned a gutshot to a straight but bricked the river to see the tournament come to an end earlier than they would have liked. "They both walked away with a six-figure score but "Nethos" also gets to tell a great story on how they won their first big title.
